Is Deepika Padukone's career a dumpsterfire waiting to happen?

The steady decline of Deepika Padukone’s career post-Piku must be studied because while actors have ups and downs in their careers all the time, I truly believe that Piku was her last great role. There is not a shred of depth in any of her subsequent roles and performances have been so one-note these last few years that I can’t help but question what I even liked about her in the first place.

Take her role as Alisha Khanna in Gehraiyaan for example. This was such a complex character that provided a clear opportunity to bring forth a wonderful performance from an actress as experienced and well-versed in these types of roles as Deepika…

And this is all we got from her for the full 148-minute runtime.

A more recent example would be her role as Shakti Shetty aka ‘Lady Singham’ in Singham Again. Her portrayal of this character was a cheap imitation of her role in Happy New Year (which was already a knock-off of the highly offensive Meenamma from Chennai Express).

I can already hear what’s coming next: “But about her roles in the SLB movies?” To which I say, “What about them?”

Is Deepika genuinely an impressive versatile actress, or have the different costumes and aesthetics simply tricked you into believing so?

(If Deepika can give us the same three performances depending on the genre of the film, I can use the same meme template three times.)

It is just so disappointing to see an actress who’s almost completed two decades in this industry and once upon a time held such promise be stuck in this rut of doing the same five roles over and over again, while her contemporaries have all moved on to bigger and better things.

Nevertheless, you're right in stating that Deepika is the bigger star when looking at the topics made for the game ... Deepika-bashing largely outshines Alia-bashing (Alia is more on the line of Shraddha)

You said correct that Piku was her best role (she was amazing in Piku) with best co-star Irfan Khan. Wished they had done one more movie together ❤️

No doubt about it.

Which contemporaries have move on to bigger things? The one biggest contemporary of hers just had the biggest flop of her career or oh wait was it Brahmastra the bigger one? Hmm debatable right.. Omg Pikachuuu so adorable. That's means Deepu too looks adorable right. Isn't Pikachu a masot for Pokemon. Mascot defination is a person or thing that is supposed to bring good luck, especially one linked to a particular organization or event. All three pictures are cute and adorable. Everyone makes fun of SA cop smile but I find it very cute. Truly beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Few have put it in their display picture and I genuinely love to see it. So thanks to whoever have uploaded it.

Corporate needs to check their eyes. Eye check up is needed urgently if they find the pictures same. So Corporate is colour blind even. If they had said expression in second then might have agree somewhat with them but picture? Come on now... First happy one are actually different poses & expressions even lol

Now see here is the thing.. for any actor take sad or happy scene from their various movies and their expression will be sad or happy in the said scene. Now if they didn't give the required expression as per the criteria of the scene then public will only criticise them. So if you compare sad scenes or happy scenes across movies it will be same for almost all actors just difference of costume and few minor things otherwise sad expression will remain sad only and happy one happy. Take any actor and do this experiment you will find it same. Someone had posted about some other actor too sometime back about this same expression in all his movies. Reading wise it seems funny but in actuality this it doesn't make sense as sad scene will have sad expression, happy scene will have happy expression and likewise for all emotions.

I say they were good. DP added class & beauty to them. She may not be perfect but then nobody is but she was good enough for SLB to recast her again and again.. thats proof enough.
