I merely corrected that person, gave examples and just put out a counter question. You should be pressed at those who brought this entire Hindu Muslim debate in the thread in the first place and given them a lecture 1st. And I am not the one who did it.

By the way, I have no expert opinion on celeb baby names. I do not even know why you assumed I have a problem with the name Dua. smiley29

Ya agree. Now we can't even express our opinion without being attackedsmiley29

Thanks for the info smiley31

Why UK don’t give Citizenship if baby is born there irrespective of parents are citizens or not? Like how it is US, Canada?

Well written false equivalency but what exactly is 'Mùslim' specific about the name "Sara" or "Sana" or "Raha" or "Dua". You presume that the celebs of x faith choosing names from y language makes that name z faith-coded when that is logically, factually, and linguistically just wrong. Languages are not religious. Your premise is false to begin with lol. People choose names that they like.

Arpita is literally a Sanskritic name given to Salman Khan's sister by her Muslim parents. When Venus Williams' parents chose her name, they weren't aligning with Ancient Roman paganism lmfao. Dhoni did not become a Rabbi when he named his kid Ziva. Languages don't have a religion. smiley37

I didn’t know that that Sameer and Kamal were also Hindu names. I thought the Hindu name was Komal, or is that a completely different name?

Sameer is also an Arabic name and very common among Muslims in Arab countries. Its feminine, Sameera is common for girls even among non-Arab Muslims. It’s official meaning is joyful friend, though I have also heard it’s derived from description of a dark/wheat complexion, “Asmar”. Both could be true.

Yes I am sure Sameer means something different in Arabic and Urdu....just like it does in Hindi.....I know a lot of Hindu Sameer smiley36

Komal is a Hindu name too....it means..soft/delicate...

Some of the names transcend religion/country and culture....like Anita is a Hindu name...but there are Anita named girls in other countries too...

There was a movie with Amir and Sonali.....which was based on the name confusion.....one was a Hindu and other was a Muslim....can't remember the name of the movie though.

Thank you for explaining all that lol. Very confusing especially when you add in Soni Razdan because I was also confused about why people say Alia is British and not Indian. The part about Mahesh and Soni converting to Islam is what is on her Wiki page. How they had to convert for him to marry again and how Soni took the name Sakina as her Muslim name.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soni_Razdan

It is interesting though that both his first two kids (Pooja and Rahul) have Hindu names but his daughters with Soni both have Muslim names (Alia and Shaheen). Maybe they felt the need to honor how their marriage came to be.

I never watched Zakhm but I've heard good things about it. I'm sure it explains a lot about his background.

Yes, good point that Kiara also has the name Alia. It's always interesting how blended Muslim and Hindu cultures are for so many of these celebs. They rarely ever identify as just one thing, a true depiction of a secular country. Kareena and Saif's kids must be the most blended since they have Hindu, Muslim, and Christian backgrounds and upbringings.

I had no idea about his mother. And I only recently learned that Supriya Pathak is his stepmother. And that her sister, Ratna Patak Shah, is married to Naseeruddin Shah, so it shows what a small world Bollywood is. Learning that Shahid's mother is a Muslim explains why his brother, Ishaan, also has a Muslim name.

This just caught my attention. Ishaan means the Lord that protects the east side which is Lord Shiva. It is taken from the Yajurveda which is the most ancient text of the world. If anything, Arabic language borrowed it from Sanskrit. No way is Ishaan a Muslim name.

"Ishana Sarva Vidyanam" is a verse from the Yajurveda that states that Ishana is present in all knowledge and Vidyas. Ishana is a form of the Hindu god Shiva, and is described as the source of everything

OT, the name just brought a smile the moment I first read about it. Thank God I didn’t read all this debate by then. We netizens truly have a knack of destroying everything beautiful with our over analyzing.smiley44God bless the beautiful child!

I do not even have an opinion about the Dua name but it was assumed I am starting some religious war here over a celeb baby name. I am being lectured and funnily those who started 'the Hindus do not give Muslim names' in the first place are not. Waah!
