So finally the makers decided to reach the much awaited identity reveal and that too by the least expected person. That’s alright, better late than never.
It’s ironic how Akshara who spent her life whole life trying to make sure her daughter didn’t have to go through the same hate and pain she suffered, only to end up writing the same fate for her daughter. She made 2 decisions for Abhira; first, not to reveal about her family to Abhira and second, to get her married to Armaan to save her from Yuvraj. When she made these decisions, she had the best interests in her heart for Abhira, but how best did these decisions serve Abhira?
Abhira kept asking Akshara one question her whole life, who is her family? Akshara wanted to protect Abhira from the hate of her own family, even at the cost of hurting her daughter. She didn’t reveal about her family because she knew there isn’t anyone who would stand by her. Yet by not revealing the reason behind that, she has left Abhira completely exposed to all the hate and pain with none to support her, more than that made Abhira reliant on the same people who she wanted to protect from. She has placed Abhira in a situation where she is going to be questioning her own identity with no actual information from her mother. She has put Abhira at a disadvantage of whom to trust, her mom who didn’t give her any information on her past or the par-nanu who directly or indirectly supported her when she didn’t have anyone. Would the truth have made Akshara’s family love and support Abhira or lessened Ruhi’s hate? no, but she would have been in a place to defend her mother who is the one family she has had her whole life, defended her mother’s honor and respect in front of these unreliable people.
She made another decision, to get Abhira married to Armaan. Yes she didn’t know about Armaan’s past, his own background or his family that well. Yet she has written the same fate to her daughter, an unreliable husband who might leave her at her worst time with a family that would blame her at any point.
I’m not holding her responsible or accountable for any of her decisions, because behind every decision her goal was to protect Abhira, yet it is sad to see how a mother’s lifelong trials and tribulations have ended up meaning nothing for the child. I wish and want makers to justify her sacrifice for her child, if not by giving Abhira her dream of happy family, at least the strength, resilience and insight to see people for who they are and not what they claim to be.
