1. The whole gang was adorbs during the entire film ~ Jiggy, Shaleen, Rotlu, Bombs
So heartwarming to see them in college, genuinely root for Jai & Aditi and then even wait at the airport for HOURS for their return

2. Rats & Meow, they are as different as chalk and cheese, but have eyes for noone but each other, know the other quite well and their relationship is grounded on friendship:

3. The music is at its finest: Kabhi Kabhi Aditi, Pappu Can't Dance, Tu Bole Main Boloon, Kahin Toh Hogi Woh, Nazrein Milana, Nazrein Churaana, Jaane Tu Mera/Meri Kya Hai, one of the best albums by A.R Rehman. Even Meghna's instrumental BG is soooooo good!
4. Amit and Aditi: Typical siblings who bicker, but are each others confidantes too.

5. Rejecting the whole gender-based profiling narrative. Sushant and Inspector Waghmare are absolute assholes and presented as so, while Jai is sensitive, emotional, smart and aware of his responsibilities. The only time he gets triggered is when Waghmare tries to harass his mother, Meghna is teased, or Sushant hits Aditi badly, and even then his first impulse was not to resort to violence, but try to sort out stuff with a stern look/words.

Similarly Aditi is a firebrand and is allowed to be so, without giving any xyz rona dhona excuses for it. She speaks her mind, she freely reacts like she feels at the moment. They even do her kitten's kriyakaram, and her sarcasm game is also on point.

6. Meghna was such a sweetheart despite everything, really felt bad for her. She may be trying to pretend things are fine with her "What's This?" games, but the moment she takes off the blinds, she understands and sets Jai free to go back to Aditi:

7. They had such cool parents. Aise chill parents kidhar milte hai bhai?

8. Whoever said the airport scene is NOT the bestest thing of the movie is kidding me!

Ki Ka was a film directed by R. Balki—and it remains one of my favourite films of 2016. I loved it because it dared to flip something we rarely...
