Abhiras love confession was very important for the story to go forward.. Because without her confession..Armaan wouldn’t be able to see the road in front of him clearly..as for abhira..she’s said it..and got it out of her chest..also now Armaan can be more sensitive to not force her to get close to him..because that’s what she wants, she knows he’s marrying Ruhi,and she wants to maintain her distance as it hurts her to see all of their interactions so,closely..but Armaan has been forcing her to get close..by making her dance with him..get in the car with him etc. as for Armaan..who,seems to be clueless about what will make him happy..maybe now he can look at both angles…a life with Ruhi,and a life with abhira and see which one would make him happier.,so abhiras confession was needed to help Armaan get clarity of his feelings..because Armaan never once thought of a future with abhira,.because she told him he’d never be her husband and she’s leaving after the year. So she now had to make it clear to him that yes..there is the option of being with her as her husband.. And this is 2024 ..it’s a leap year..where woman are encouraged to do the proposing..😂..also,this is modern times..if we want equality at the workplace, in society, in our homes ..then why must men be the first to declare love and marriage and go down on their knees and beg for our hand in marriage.. in love and marriage it should equal,as well..right..so if women want to declare love and be the one to propose marriage..then go ahead. And even in the show..Armaan never proposed to ruhi..she went and bulldozed the whole family into getting them to make Armaan Marry her..I think Ruhi also took the leap year thing seriously and decided she’d propose marriage rather then waiting her whole life for Armaan to ask her to marry him..😂

Hum audience ko gadhe ar se kuch expect karna hi bekar hai.Aj toh yeh khud chillake bol raha tha he himself doesn’t know what he wants.
