Winning against a team that has secured its league-topper status long back will not be easy for RR but it could just be the challenge that can fire them up and set them up nicely for a potential encore in Qualifier 1 after a day's gap in Ahmedabad.

Hello everyone and a warm welcome to the final group stage match of IPL 2024. It's the clash between two teams that are currently placed at the top of the points table. Kolkata Knight Riders have already sealed the top spot. They'll be forced to make a change as Phil Salt has left for international duties. Rahmanullah Gurbaz is expected to slot in to replace the Englishman. KKR seem to have a settled line-up as they have all their bases covered. Rajasthan Royals come into this match on the back of a four-match losing streak. They'll be keen to get back to winning ways before the playoffs. If SRH chase down Punjab's 214 (in the ongoing match), RR ought to win this encounter to finish second. The way SRH are currently batting, they are favourites to hunt down the target. RR eked out a nervy 2-wicket win against Kolkata in the reverse fixture at the Eden Gardens. However, the Royals are without Buttler.

The absence of the need to worry about survival is an inherent benefit to first-world problems. It leaves you in a situation where you have the option of choosing between ordering carrot halwa or kofta rather than running after carrots. In tournament play, securing qualification is that luxury that opens access to all kinds of carroty goodness - Rajasthan Royals earned that in a sizzling first-half this IPL. Eight wins in their first nine games felt like an inevitability and the one loss an aberration. They didn't have to worry about qualification but four losses in a row have pegged them back. Couple that with Sunrisers Hyderabad chugging along and well set to win their ongoing game against Punjab Kings, and RR are in must-win situation if they want to finish in the top two.

Pitch report: "We are at the centre. Square boundaries 61-62m pretty much equidistant. The straight one is 73m," says Anjum Chopra. Matthew Hayden opines,"We have got a cracking wicket here and I think it's a different looking wicket than the one we had last game. Last year RR got 199 on this pitch and DC couldn't chase it down. I would say batting first. It's really hard and has a better sheen to it. Better preparation (than last game) I feel. It's got a really nice covering of grass and the patches that don't have the grass you can see the sheen so the ball is going to slide on. Better wicket tonight for sure."

Mohit Arya: "I think RR should let Ashwin open with Jaiswal instead of trying TKC at such crucial time of the tournament, 4 foreign players should be Hettie Powell Boult Burger/Maharaj depending on condition." Sure is a brave call

Opus: "After 2008 season this is first time that two table toppers are playing the last league game. RR had won that season. " It might have been if not for SRH, who look all but certain to win against PBKS. 38 needed off 34 with six wickets in hand, and Harshal's just dropped Abhishek as I type. But let's see, who knows

For KKR, the carrot halwas have kept coming. They can have an assortment of halwas if they want given how well they've gone. Nine wins in 13 games, just three losses and one no result, hard for a situation to get more enviable than that.

Abhishek : "What are the chances of a completed match considering the rain around?" Not sure but it's dry for now.
