If he loves Arshi then he won't go after Jhanak at any cost. He just got infatuation as nowadays gen Z hardly differentiate between love and attraction.

When he started to face all of his varied emotions with Jhanak, he got completely baffled due to his inability to understand his inner feelings.

As he witnesses his true love's emotions for the first time and, at the same time, his commitment to Arshi, along with the family and social pressure, and his mind's acceptance of Rahul's love, he is reluctant to accept a significant change in himself.

As soon as he is apart from Jhanak, the actual suppressed feelings will come into play. By that time, his restlessness and Jhanak's absence will undeniably prevent him from being the person he was before meeting her and will further ignite his emotions to root for her.
