I too think he loves Arshi... while missing J... back to the days where he was imagining J in the place of Arshi...
It's like two steps forward.. 50 episodes backwards
If he loves Arshi then he won't go after Jhanak at any cost. He just got infatuation as nowadays gen Z hardly differentiate between love and attraction.
When he started to face all of his varied emotions with Jhanak, he got completely baffled due to his inability to understand his inner feelings.
As he witnesses his true love's emotions for the first time and, at the same time, his commitment to Arshi, along with the family and social pressure, and his mind's acceptance of Rahul's love, he is reluctant to accept a significant change in himself.
