Dear all,

Everyone of you must have participated in a debate competition at least once in your life, or maybe always keen to take part in such a competition. Hence, we have brought for you the first ever debate thread i.e. "Debate of the Month" in our Indian Mythology forum. Here we will bring one debate topic every month, based on various current issues/situations exists in our society, the roots of which are someway connected to our Indian mythologies.

As you all are aware of, a debate is an organized argument in which the two teams (each team having a group of participants) discuss the given debate topic from two opposing sides. That is, there is one team who agree with the given topic (statement) and will be giving arguments in favour of the topic and there will be another team who doesn't agree with the topic (statement) and will be giving arguments opposing the topic statement.

So, the first topic of the Debate of the Month (DOTM) is "Love is eternal without even marriage."

There may or may not be the existence of love betwen two people in a marriage (because actions speak louder than words); while love can be eternal without even marriage. To eleborate this month's debate topic statement, here I am giving a few examples from our Indian Mythology in support of this topic. As we all know, Radha and Krishna's divine love story is eternal and giving us the definition of true love since ages, who were not even married themselves. While married couples, be it either Yudhisthira-Draupadi or Ravana-Mandodari (naming a few) can't be really considered as happily married couples owing to several reasons, which I won't elaborate further. Can a marriage survive only based on love, or what's the true definition of love? Or marriage is that binding/responsibility which will fade the love between the two individuals over time and it can never be eternal in the real situation?

So, what are you waiting for? Do put on your debate hats and join either Team A : Love Forever (those who agree with the topic statement) or Team B : Life is a test (those who don't agree with the topic statement) and start our first debate with your arguments in favour or opposing the statement in this thread.

You can join either of the teams by clicking on the "Teams" button in Indian Mythology forum & start your debate. Tag your friends too to join the debate.

Also can anyone explain me what's the against topic

If we're not agreeing to the given topic then what exactly we're agreeing on 🤔

Yeah, we haven't yet decided on the parameters yet, but winning or lossing will be there based on the participation. One debate will continue throughout the month. Just you have to put your arguments like you do for any topic, but you have to be clear from the beginning whether you're doing it in favour or against the topic statement.

Against means if you don't believe that "love is eternal without even marriage", that means in this case you believe in marriage and love follows it i.e. marriage is the exam of love. Like in modern culture, live-in relationships exist (which is mostly against marriage culture). I hope I clear your doubts. Tag your friends too to participate. You can give arguments wrt the opposite team's views too.
