Mumbai Indians huff and puff to 144. Opting to bowl, LSG were miserly with the new ball. The new ball bowlers removed Rohit and SKY cheaply. Things became worse when they lost Tilak and Hardik off back-to-back deliveries. The visitors were 28/4 at the end of the powerplay. The two left-handers - Ishan Kishan and Nehal Wadhera - steadided the ship somewhat by stitching a half-century stand (slowest of IPL 2024). Kishan was dropped on 8 by Turner off Mayank's bowling but the MI opener eventually perished against Bishnoi for 32 at a SR under 90. Nehal Wadhera upped the ante and MI's scoring rate crossed 6 RPO in the 16th over. Mohsin Khan bowled a superb yorker to clean up the set batter. Tim David's little cameo towards the end ensured Mumbai crossed 140. Lucknow will be pleased with their bowling performance. Stroke-making may not be easy as the ball is holding onto the pitch but the hosts will fancy their chances of hunting down this total.

Wadhera: I think it's a good total, would have gotten more if I had batted longer. (Good recovery) to score 144 from the situation we were in. I think the ball is gripping a bit, wasn't expecting so much turn. It's not an easy target to chase, they will have to bat smartly. I don't think of milestones, I just want our team to win. Happy that I could chip in with 46 runs. We haven't won the last few games, we know we all have to win our remaining games, have to give our best and the guys are optimistic, let's see what happens. We need to stop the singles, doubles and the boundaries.

Nehal Wadhera: I think it is a good total but we could have gotten more if I was out there in the middle. In the situation we were, 144 is a good score. Our bowlers are pumped up and they will do well. The ball is gripping a bit. When Bishnoi was bowling, I was not expecting the ball to turn but it was spinning. Even when the pacers were bowling cutters, it was gripping. They will have to bat smartly (to get these runs), and we will try to not let that happen. I don't think of these milestones. It is a T20 game and I just want my team to win. Really happy I could chip in with 46 crucial runs. (Chat in the dressing room) We need to win all the remaining games, so we just want to give it our all, and that is the chat that is going on. The guys are really optimistic and let's see what happens.
