Jhanak hasn’t been able to do much of what she wants herself because of her living circumstances, what can she really do for Ani? And in another way, I think Jhanak has done a lot for Ani emotionally by complying to his wishes even if she wasn’t cool with it. Yes, Ani does more of the physical favors because he is in the better position but Jhanak has ALWAYS paid for them somehow because his family never let her actually enjoy them and reap the rewards. It has never been receive and enjoy fully for her. But she has done a lot for Ani just be still staying in that house at her own detriment. It’s clear that Ani is emotionally compensated by her presence EVEN when he hasn’t done the same to her by still saying she is responsibility and fixing dates with Arshi. I feel if JHanak is going to do this thing where she becomes more vulnerable and yielding to Ani because of her feelings, it would have paid off more if it was clear, even if not to others, but to her that she was loved clearly. There would be some form of equal return and stability in knowing she is loved even if it can’t come to pass. Like you said, Ani does more stuff because he is already stronger in resources compared to her. But compared to Jhanak giving him so much of her soul and self, it’s smaller because Jhanak literally has nothing else to give. And she’s giving it to a guy who is showing all signs of commitment to another. It’s like she is setting up herself to keep losing without even having much to begin with and that’s why I wanted Jhanak to truly be independent and bit more successful on her own, I wanted her to also have an equal contribution to her success and not owe him too many favors before the love story started. That way Jhanak could have been a stronger character who can love well, can help in Ani’s character development, while also putting herself first because we all know Ani has demons for a family and he is not flawless. An equal dynamic would have meant that Ani truly cannot act up with her even while dating because she wouldn’t take it. Basically, a better version of Arshi. It’s why my best scenes are when Jhanak is actually strongly defending herself or when she is communicating equally and meaningfully with Ani. Makers should have built her up that way consistently to make them that kind of couple. Because to be honest, Jhanak started life losing, so it would have been a big W if she was a bit more ‘self first’ and capitalizing on Ani’s connections and her pay. That money she earned Jhanak should have either used it to buy stocks or get her OWN place regardless of what anyone says. She didn’t need anyone to rent it for her. She should be eagerly wanting to build her portfolio to get away and chatting with the directors and other crew to get connections on trips like this. All the head bowing and getting used to clean tables feels foreign especially since she is 21 and a college graduate. And it doesn’t matter if she is in love or not. The man she loves is fixing wedding dates, instead of waiting around to cry and be insulted, just accept that you will be getting a heartbreak soon but at least it would be from an air conditioned apartment under your name. What’s it with making the FL so one track but the villainess/parallel lead has the stronger consistency? Shouldn’t Jhanak be planning her own rodeo at least after when he marries Arshi? If Ani goes abroad, would she stay as a maid for Boses and even if he doesn’t, would she be so self-disrespectful to stay in that same house, torturing herself at such a fresh, young age? What are the little ways that she is actually planning for herself? If she won’t get the man, at least make it clear that she will use his assistance well and rein in anything else. She should keep to his words that she is just responsibility and remind herself everyday. When Ani has seen what suffering and unhappiness means with Arshi, he would do what he needs to do. I think after watching Katha Ankahee and starting Jhanak, it looked like she was going to be a self-preserving FL. Now…
