Reincarnation (punarjanma) is a central tenet of the Indian religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. It occurs as an esoteric belief in many streams of Judaism, certain pagan religions including Wicca, and some beliefs of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas and Indigenous Australians. Abrahmamic religions that do believe in it include the mainstream historical and contemporary followers of Cathars, Alawites, Hassidics, the Druze, Kabbalistics and the Rosicrucians. The historical relations between these sects and the beliefs about reincarnation that were characteristic of Neoplatonism, Orphism, Hermeticism, Manichaenism, and Gnosticism of the Roman era.

There is no single type of experience, however, that completes the mysterious event characterized with the expression rebirth. The mode of experience of rebirth itself is as manifold as the individuality of the person concerned. The different forms of rebirth experience are distinguished not only according to whether the event sets in suddenly with overwhelming surprise, as when one is “born again” or “sees the light,” or as the result of a slow process, a “growing,” a “maturing,” and an “evolution.” They are also distinguished according to the psychic capability predominant at the time that thereby takes charge (will, intellect), the endowment at hand, and the personal type of religious experience. With the voluntaristic type, rebirth is expressed in a new alignment of the will, in the liberation of new capabilities and powers that were hitherto undeveloped in the person concerned. With the intellectual type, it leads to an activation of the capabilities for understanding, to the breakthrough of a “vision.” With others it leads to the discovery of an unexpected beauty in the order of nature or to the discovery of the mysterious meaning of history. With still others it leads to a new vision of the moral life and its orders, to a selfless realization of love of neighbour. In the experience of Christian rebirth, the hitherto existing old condition of humanity is not simply eliminated so far as the given personality structure is concerned—a structure dependent upon heredity, education, and earlier life experiences. Instead, each person affected perceives his life in Christ at any given time as “newness of life.”

The belief prevalent in Islam where they believe that once they die they go to Heaven and are never born again has been refuted by Quran. Verses from Surah Al Anbiya 104 in Quran Sharif & Majid clearly explain the concept of Birth / Rebirth.

Surah Al Anbiya - 21:104: The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.

In the verse of the Quran mentioned above, it has been clearly mentioned that the creation will be repeated similar to how it was done before. This proves that rebirth is imminent until once attains salvation.

Today is the day of Easter, where Jesus Christ resurrected from his grave on the 3rd day after being mercilessly crucified to spread the message of the defeat of death and the hope of salvation.

Religion interprets this concept differently, though it does exist in some form in each for certain sects.

Religious beliefs aside, I was just generally asking for a personal belief tbh, do you think it is possible for us to be reborn and be familiar with someone the way they show in these tv shows/movies?

Tu hi rooh ka sukoon, You're are the peace of my soul

Tu hi dil ki hai dastak, You're the beat of my heart
Aur kuch na jaanu main, And I know nothing else
Bas itna hi jaanu, I know only this
Tujh mein rab dikhta hai, I see God in you
Yaara main kya karoon, My beloved what should I do
Sajde sar jhukta hai, My head bows down in worship to you
Yaara main kya karoon, My beloved what should I do

Tujh mein rab dikhta hai, I see God in you

Yaara main kya karoon, My beloved what should I do
