Oh man ..such terrible memories you’ve dug up ..but anyway, for the record, couple chemistry is only social media fodder ..I remember the craze over Maneet while their TRPs were hardly anything to write home about ..while there was no craze over Akshara and Naitik, this show was a topper . Performance wise I liked Karan Mehra only in the track with Kuhu. His performance in Gayatri Ma’s death episodes were terrible and this was after some three years in the show. Who cared though ..the show still got the TRPs. Actually after giving Seasons 2 & 3 a miss, it was the mention of Jay Soni that drew me back. I actually like Harshad Chopra but felt the vibes of the show did not match his. So didn’t bother to watch and am learning that was a good decision from what I am reading here. Anyway I liked Jay from his Sasural days and decided to check it out. I liked the progressive idea of a scarred woman finding love a second time. But I started following only towards the end and soon it was Season 4 time. I kept track out of habit. I liked the supporting cast but did not warm up to Shehzada. I had never seen him before and I did not like what I saw on the show initially. He did not find his footing till almost a month or two in the show. Even Sam whom I had never seen before, I liked as a sweet face and I felt the connect with Abhira because of Akshnav. I didn’t like the initial episodes too much though, a bit too OTT, overtly chirpy MLs or FLs are not my thing. The only actor whom I liked instantly was Gaurav Sharma. He had immense screen presence and a certain style that made him own the character. I enjoyed his performance even while his Yuvraj was vile. But honestly, I thought Yuvraj had more personality than Arman, who was so colourless. The less said about his cringe scenes with Ruhi the better of course. They were unbearable and they kept me well away from watching regularly. Shehzada improved eventually, largely because of his scenes with Sam, while he remained cringe with Pratiksha. Not because of the EMA but because neither actor could make us connect to the so-called angst. The off-screen news didn’t do anything to endear him either since they made him look thoroughly unprofessional. Since everyone kept saying the PH was making him do it, I was thinking maybe it would all change when the truth of Arman and Ruhi came out. Who knew that Arman himself would change, transform into Arman 2.0. RoPo has the style and the presence that Armaan needed and that is half the job done, he actually looks like what the character should have from Day 1. He will take some time to get the nuances down pat but he is way superior to what Shehzada was even after a couple of months, simply because he is clearly a better actor. He will bring Armaan his own flavour in sometime. Right now the show is high on the flavour of bhaang. We have to wait for the nasha to utrofy before we can actually start looking for the nuances of the character in Armaan 2.0.
