She saw the door open and Maan came in “You are awake yet. This way you will also harm our baby for whom you let people play with your respect”

“Sorry..” she uttered and tears rolled down her eyes

Maan went beside her and cocooned her in his embrace “Abb yeh bhi mujhe hi kerna parega.. close your eyes and try to sleep” he pulled her closer and placed his other hand on her eyes to cover them with his warmth.

Maan looked at his beautiful wife sleeping, her hands still holding his arms, as if asking sorry. He softly places her head on the pillow.

He felt sad; today was their first night and this is what he gave her - his anger. She was his love, he is supposed to fill her life with all love and make each moment precious. But all he did was pull her from the decorated bed and drag her down to force his decision when she was waiting with her innocent dreams of spending her nights in the arms of her husband.

But what could he have done? He could not give the new start to their life in a place where she was brutally insulted. Not only that, he had sensed, the process would go on loop, had he stayed there. He cannot let his kid grow up with elders who had tested his identity. No.

But still, he cannot forgive himself for being so harsh to her on their special night.

“Why had you not trusted me Geet. Ek baar batana tha na, I would have made things right. You should have told me your wish for our child, I would have ensured it.“

Leaving his family was the toughest thing for Maan. He lived for his family, worked day and night for his family’s happiness, he had dreamt of his family showering more love to Geet than him, he would fake anger but would cherish it… so many dreams to see his kids being raised in his precious family. But not at this cost. He had gymed like crazy these days, and absorbed all the pain that he will have to endure for the rest of his life being separated from them. He knew his mother and Dadima could not survive without him and their pain was equally painful for him. He cannot let them in pain but he cannot also let them give pain to Geet again and again. Maan had thus decided, he would have to intermittently visit home but he had to keep his family away and his place of settlement unknown to them.

With all this thought, he looked at the dark sky outside the window of the plane. He took a deep sigh, looking at his innocent sleeping beauty. He bent and placed a kiss on her forehead and slipped beside her. Maan very well knew, in recent times, it would not be in his capacity to shower lovey dovey love on her. It was not easy for him to accept that she went ahead with the test and hid with him. It will take him time to heal. But he has taken her responsibility and be whatever, she was his ultimate love. Her care and comfort, he can promise. Open arms love, he just wished he could give her soon..

It was life’s test for their love The love that two different worlds are fighting for and against. How can he imagine the path to be any easier?

It must have been some hours in the air when Maan felt the movement. He opened his eyes to find Geet sitting, uneasiness on her face.

“Geet, are you Okay”

“I.. I.. “ she placed her hand on her chest, squeezing her face closer

“are you okay” She moved her hand restlessly, shaking her head for no

“you want to throw up”

“don’t know… feeling very restless” she got down from bed, paced, holding her chest and then head

Maan held her and led her to the washroom “Geet, try throwing up” he said, rubbing his hand on her back

“I don’t like being in the air… i want to go home”

He gave her water in a glass “drink this.. Geet just a couple of hours we will be on land”

Geet drank the water which made her more uneasy “Maan” she turned and he held her tight in his embrace

“I am feeling sick, will something happen to the baby?”

Maan kept rubbing her back “Nothing will happen. I have consulted a doctor, you are good to fly. It is just the nausea”

He then gave her a pill to sooth her, which relaxed her a bit “Mom used to get that…”

“I am not enough for you Geet. I will learn all, you don’t trust I will make sure of your comfort”

“I trust you more than anything… it’s just… you would have enjoyed your kid being pampered by the whole family.. won’t you miss that. Vicky and Annie pampering the baby in their way.. dad would have just made it his world, Mom and Dadima running around for baby to have a morsel..”

“Geet, no use remembering and imagining things. Face the reality. I will make it as beautiful for you as I can”

“And you?.. I know you wanted me and baby to grow between your loving family”

“yes loving.. not the ones with conditional love based on test results.”

“Then you must be mad at me too, I was part of it…’

“Who said I am not? You need me, I am there for you, I have to be.” he said, still holding her in his embrace

“I hurted you” “Yes, you did. You did hurt me. And you will, everytime you bring this up”

“I am sorry… I know you will give all the world’s love and happiness to our baby”

He stayed quiet, just held her close to him

“I will not do anything to hurt you any further… I am sorry”

“Hmm.. rest now. We will soon land” She did as asked. Now she will not even ask where he is taking her, she will submit her life to him without a question.

Maan’s jet landed at Melbourne Airport, As a part of Khurana Airlines, Maan got the landing zone for his private jet. He had plans to soon get his own private landing area.

Geet got herself ready when she saw Maan professionally getting himself ready. Of course, he was the Maan Singh Khurana and people can be there for him. She being his wife needed to be presentable. He didn’t want to load her with any pressure of being Maan Khurana’s wife. She can just be her. But Geet wanted to take effort to be presentable for him. Well, she didn’t need much to do. Slight touch up and the class of dresses that Maan got for her with love, were enough to make her shine in the crowd. Her simplicity, he loved and she will never leave that.

Geet got down to find herself in a complete alien world. Seeing abroad in movies is a different thing but directly witnessing was a completely different experience.

“Welcome to Malbourne, Sir-Ma’am”

“Adi Sir!!” Geet was so happy to see the familiar face. Adi sir who had always been so strict on her and was well troubled by her craziness, was here.

“How are you ma’am”

“Adi sir,” she pouted “he he he… okay no teasing… How are you Geet?”

Maan felt relaxed. Adi is the one who will keep her brain busy and she will have someone to help her be herself. As of now, Maan knew he could not give her that comfort. His own anger on her will surface from time to time and though he will give her full care and nothing can top his concern above her but he knew the hurt of her doing the act due to not trusting him may bring stiffness in him.

Geet, slightly turned to look at Maan, who seemed to be busy in his call. Not having guts to distract him when she has hurt him so much, she decided to be diverted with Adi Sir.

“Adi sir, how come you here??”

“hen hen hen Geet… Maan sir is moving here, where will I go? My dad’s loyalty is little more to Raj Sir while mine is little more to Maan Sir. Waise bhi… I am a bachelor, will find a gori here”

Geet made a ‘O’ shaped face “hww Adi sir.. what is the problem with we beautiful Indian girls that you guys are so fancied about these Goris..”

“hen hen…, it’s not about Gori and kali… tum nahi samjhogee”

Adi was lost in thought “No one can beat our desi girl for me Geet but it is so hard to get Pinky confess.. I have been trying indirectly for a year…”

“And so you are happy to lose Pinky. Very well I will convey her…”

“Arre arre nahi Geet. I was just kidding. Maan sir will talk to Manchanda Sir to move Pinky under his umbrella..”

“hmmm…” Geet was lost in discussion with Adi, not aware of a pair of eyes observing her. Yes, he needed a few old acquaintances of hers here and additionally he needed loyal employees as he plans to expand his own venture from the ten percent that he has brought.

They settled in the car, Maan and Geet in one and Adi on the other. Best bodyguards and commandos from the best company here were already hired with great salaries. Their loyalty testing and training will happen as well but for now they were validated by strict scrutiny of Adi’s team.

As the car drove, Geet eyes followed the city, absorbing the difference in the geography, demography, infrastructure etc.. Among this, her heart felt guilt loaded every minute. Her acts have caused Maan to separate from his family. Had she not agreed to the DNA test and talked to Maan, today they would have not been settling separately. Now it was on her to unite him fully with his family. Knowing Maan and how determined he is, she knows it will not be a day or month but can take a few years as well. But she will not give up. Her love was not selfish to keep him all for herself.

She looked at Maan, who seemed to be busy on his laptop. No, she cannot take all his busyness as his anger. He was here to start his own venture from scratch with the ten percent that he has brought. She knew, as a businessman, Maan would not settle with anything less but to be the best and on top once again, all on his own.

The car entered the premises of the house beyond Geet’s imagination. Middle class that she was, as Maan was going to start his company she had thought they would just start with something decent but the premises that the car entered was grand beyond her imagination.

Geet could not believe it was their own house. Giving her a reality check, she thought he had rented part of a section of the magnificent house.

She looked at Maan, who could clearly read her curiosity.

“This is your home now. Decorate it, change it, expand it, all as per your wish”

“This big house.. for just us!!!” she blurted her curiosity

“You really expect anything less than this from Maan khurana? I have pulled out a good ten percent from KE for my family. My family will have no less of anything they are entitled to”

She smiled.

Reading her concern, “Buying this house doesn’t lessen the worth that we hold…” she nodded, knowing he knows things much better than her in these matters. She is a learner, he is a pro. A fresher and a principal level to be precise.

He then went back on checking important messages that he was receiving since stepping foot here. Geet knew that is how he is and that is what keeps him on top.

Maan turned to Adi - “Can you give Geet the tour of the house, i have important calls to attend’

“Sure sir..”

And Adi went on being the guide of her new house.

She learnt that the house had impeccably manicured topiaries in the front garden, the stately circular driveway and the sheer size of the property. This home boasts eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and an incredible 5000 sqm of gardens.

Also encased inside the sprawling property was the self-contained guest quarters, a rooftop terrace with its own kitchen, a gym and sauna, a home theater, a 4,000-bottle wine cellar, an internal lift, two pools, a mini soccer field, a playground and an 18-seat kitchen

Geet was observing the elegance of the house. She had an understanding that her husband was a person simple at heart and his elegance came from his rich upbringing. But today she realized that his taste of elegance was beyond his upbringing, it was his own.

She stood in front of the mirror in their new grand exclusively designed bedroom and observed herself. Other than her beauty, which Maan had praised in so many ways, she found that she was a simple girl otherwise. Why did Maan fall for her then? Was it just nature's crafted unusual pull between them? No, he loved her beyond that. He loved everything about her just like she loves everything about him.

Maan’s taste was simplicity at its core surrounded by elegance. Does it mean, he loved her core simple nature and also found her to be elegant. Geet looked at her, from her eyes, she did not know what was elegant about her but if he loved her so much, he must be seeing some elegance in her which she is unable to see. Yes, his love is unconditional but it was the result of these two values that he must have found on her.

With that it comes to her act of DNA test of her own child. That act defies the two core values that pulled him. He loves her unconditionally but Geet knows she has to win him back.
