Chandragupta's case was very different. He married Nand Nandini first but Chanakya wanted a loyal queen on the throne with Chandragupta. He saw Chandragupta'a relative's daughter Durdhara was his Best Friend and a docile woman. So Chandragupta married Durdhara and made her his Agramahishi (Chief Queen) Source-Mahavansh Tika

So Durdhara being his chief queen was because of Chanakya arranging it but their relationship was harmonious. She was his best friend from childhood and they were each other's emotional support. But yeah she couldn't stop him from visiting other women. Helena despite being his favourite was never Chief Queen unlike the show shows because she was from an enemy empire and she was very prone to jealousy and was possessive for him. Also she was a very young girl.

Really? I read that Karuwaki is sometimes confused to be Asandhimitra. I was saying here that the way Mallika is being portrayed, she's giving Tisyarakshita vibes. I didn't know that Karuwaki was associated with Tisyarakshita though.

Karuwaki is never confused with Asandhimitra because Asandhimitra had title of Agramahishi and in no way he would insult his beautiful Asandhi by blatantly calling her Dwitiya Devi. I think not everyone understands this but Ashok called her dusri patni in his inscription not Agramahishi, not even Mahadevi. Karuwaki is associated with Tisyarakshita as both are called Dwitiya Devi and Karu wanting her charities to be in her name suggests she was an ambitious person. Tisya was a dumb woman but she also had evil mind who wanted everything in the world because she was initially a handmaiden exploited by many so her newfound power got in her head and brought her doom.

Literary sources doesn't mention Karuwaki at all. Literary sources has names Asandhimitra and Tisyarakshita. Tisyarakshita is associated with Karuwaki. Some scholars say Karuwaki was original name of Tisyarakshita. Tisyarakshita was a new more fancy name given to her by Ashok.

Don't tell me I have to watch it again. Hated the heavy CGI/VFX they're using.
