Watching this movie I never felt Karan loved Sonia. He was genuinely happy for his friends.
Deep inside he has sadness because of his father.
But people felt he loved her ..how come

Rakeysh Mehra said, "There was an attraction between Siddharth and Soha. We couldn't bring it into the forefront because of lack of space. In any case love stories don't have to have a happy ending. Today's generation is very mature about love and its end."
Throughout the movie, nothing else conveyed that Karan liked Soniya. But this scene and his reaction was definitely confusing. Either the direction or Karan's portrayal wasn't straightforward enough to differentiate if he liked her or it was his pain due to his father.
I don’t think there was an attraction but he loved her as a friend. That is why he was so angry at his father for killing ajay. It killed him from inside to see her so much in pain and sorrow.
Maybe it was just a small crush. He got over it. It happens. I have seen the movie many times.
Interesting he was the Bhagat Singh in the other world and not Aamir
He definitely liked her a lot. His reaction in the scene posted shows he loves her.
I do prefer love stories with a happy ending (unless it's toxic) but I love what he said. People who never confessed but loved from a far, it isn't necessary that they have to end up with the other person. Although I detest falling out of love concept, especially when they show the one who confessed first is the ones leaves first, making the other person confused & messed up.Originally posted by: TorinoPasta

Anyway, I wonder why filmmakers don't come up with sequal of movies like this. Like a continuation. If he felt they could give us a story with them but due to the lack of space it wasn't possible, he could have make a sequel or something like that with the same vibe & all.
