how is 12th fail and Sam bahadur MORE APPRECIATION from the masses when these are the parameters to gauge mass appreciation? (Box office and pop culture impact)

Kuch bhi…

In this day and age it is rare to give a box office blockbuster, and a performance that is high on impact across the country in all sectors and markets (incl critics, smaller cities and their box office circuits , social media, major metropolitan cities , multiplexes and single screens)

Sam bahadur and 12th fail may have had rave reviews and be liked the ppl who saw them…they are in no way close to the acceptance ranbirs performance got in Animal…(nope this ain’t an opinion, the numbers speak for themselves)

There is the problem right there, and why awards in Bollywood are useless. Actors that should win should be because if their craft, not because of how much money it did in the box office. If awards were awarded for the box office, Avatar would have record of Oscars. But that is not how it works in Hollywood while Bollywood awards are now meaningless because of that criteria. Only A listers win, only people that attend win, and that is why they are now worthless..

Ranbir wasn't better than Vicky or Vikrant, not at all.

Again, Ranbir played himself and his man-child self and his daddy issues self and was given that award.

Only three A listers attended Filmfare, and two of them won and another was performing.

Nobody wins an Oscar just based on their craft. It involves a whole lot of lobbying. "Campaning" as they call it.

And that’s the problem right there …vibrant and Vicky being “better” is a matter of opinion not a fact ..

The reason brought in box office was coz u said Vikrat and Vicky had more appreciation from the masses than ranbir in Animal which is clearly not the case …mass appreciation is box office and cultural impact …both of which animal had

And animal also had critics and several esteemed members of the industry appreciate ranbirs performance …it makes perfect sense why he was awarded …the impact was too big to ignore ..simple

You might disagree and that’s fine ..like I said it’s an opinion

But “impact” of a performance is not an opinion …it’s the box office numbers , critic reviews and filmmakers and colleagues appreciation of the performance …Ranbirs performance literally checked every box out there

Sam Bahudar was declared a success. Animal was a very problematic film that created controversy to the point it went to parliament. And there were several prominent critics that opposed the film whom Vanga swore at.

Nobody here denies that Animal is a problematic film. But even critics who panned the film had nothing bad to say about Ranbir's performance

General consensus from NEUTRAL audience has been that no matter how the movie was, Ranbir's performance was phenomenal

Well then I am not sure what you consider a NEUTRAL audience but I know many who were not impressed. And no they are not part of any fan war nor are they influenced by anything else.

How is animal being a problematic film and going to the parliament a statement on ranbirs performance ? …that’s like saying Shabana and nandita das in fire were bad coz the film was banned in some places 🙄

Gauging the reception of a performance is done three ways

1. Box office and mass circuit impact (Sam bahadurs success was limited to multiplexes …it didn’t penetrate to every circuit and certainly didn’t have footfalls or the reach that animal did)

2. Cultural impact (discussions , roundtables, dialogues and scenes becoming famous )

3. Critic and filmmaker appreciation

Sam Bahadur has 1.5 of the 3 above (partially box office and critic/celeb appreciation)….animal had 3/3

No prizes for guessing which one had more impact

NEUTRAL audience is someone like arshad warsi or aparshakti khuranna…who has no stake in the film …he gets no money from praising it …he’s not kjos or ranbirs chamcha…he’s not praising the performance of every film that releases every Friday …he gets out there and says he loved ranbirs performance …

They campaign for it, but just because you campaign doesn't mean you win it. Most time Oscars do get it right, and even movies that don't make much in the box office do win. A movie isnt judged by how much it makes in the box office or who is attending.

The is a French movie called Anatomy of a Fall that is nominated a bunch of Oscars because of the quality not how much it made.

Ranbir and Alia should be embarrassed, most Bollywood stars ignored them and didnt even bother to attend.
