Lookie wat I found😃

Do you think this is blasphemous or offensive? That a western comic company has made an action figure of Shri Ram. Are we opening the door to exploiting our beloved Ramayan. Can you imagine in a few years if Disney makes Ramayan and they start to give out Ram and Ravan figurines with your Happy Meal😕

While we ponder that, ...I just ordered my Ram Statue from Virgin Comics😳. If it looks as good as in this pic, I promise that when it does finally arrive, I'll take pics of it and post it up here

Statue of Lord Ram from Virgin Comics

Rama – The Warrior Prince statue is a limited edition offering from Virgin Comics. The makers claim that the statue is limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide and thus making it a collectors item.

The sculpture is based on an original painting by legendary artist Alex Ross and is sculpted by Mark Newman. The statue is 11.5 inches tall and is priced at $149.99. The statue is available in comic shops and online at Virgin Comics store.

The sculpture is quite similar to drawings of Lord Ram in Ramayan 3392AD, a version of Ramayana presented by Virgin Comics.

I hope that from these comics, children do not consider Ram as simply some action hero. They should also know how good character Ram had.

^True, he looks really unreal. All the ram statues and show actors I have seen are believable this one doesn't seem like it.

I agree Tan😉

The other day I realised my 3 yr old nephew is crazy about superman. He has the full uniform, Superman t shirts, pants (even under-pants!) shoes, 2 superman action figures, a towel, and bedding!!! He repeatedly sees all the superman movies too..... I felt that he's so brainwashed by merchandising and wondered that if our "Hindu superheroes" were merchandised just as aggressively, maybe it will attract the young generation. I obviously wouldnt go as far as ramayan shorts and sandals... but I mean more culturally sensitive merchandising. Our special effects and the visual impact of a Ramayan serial cant compare with the technically superb Spidermans and Supermans. So I support ventures like Virgin Comics - they're trying to make Hindu Characters cool... and sooner or later people wil look beyond the "cool" and see the spiritual richness. The Hare Krishna Movement also sarted like this - with Hippies being attracted to the cool alternate exotic elements - but now we have a worldwide movement of some dedicated Vaishnavs!

I agree, I think it's a good thing, will expose more people to Ramayan, just hope they don't start putting them in Happy Meals 🤢
