Indian newspaper accused of Bachchan bash

A mumbai tabloid called Mid-Day has been accused of being a political-agenda paper run under the guise of a tabloid in Mumbai and has been increasingly said to be trying to sabotage the Bachchans systematically with its articles in coordination with other influential media outfits. The outfit Mid-Day, is said to be worth over 250 crores, and run by a man named Khalid Ansari. Its 'reporting' is led by the likes of Shaheen Parkar, Tushar Joshi and a woman named Upala KBR.

Earlier this year, Mid-Day was putting coverage on Bachchans' films such as Sarkar Raj not being able to release. As that turned out to be false with Sarkar Raj releasing in just two weeks, the Mid-day tried changing tracks on attacking on personal level on Amitabh Bachchan and his family.

Recently, Mid-Day advanced a false story of Amitabh Bachchan's blog being a paid enterprise for him for 115 crores, essentially insinuating he was disingenuous in his writings. More seriously, the paper has in the past few months, tried to print personal bank information of Abhishek Bachchan, as well as a replica of Aishwarya Rai's passport, possibly helping put the family in jeopardy.

However it appears Mr. Ansari and crew may soon have more to worry interms of themselves being in jeopardy at some point as more and more Bachchan supporters are getting inkling of what the outfit, allegedly operating under freedom of speech granted by Hindustan constitution, could be really in for.

Says a Bachchan supporter with ties to the Judiciary, "if Mid-Day is worth 250 crores, why not sue it for 250 crores. Because what they are doing against the Bachchans is not only deliberately and maliciously false and defamatory, they have direct cause-effect relationship on trying to lower the Bachchans' brand equity. So if not for 250 crores, Mid-Day's owners should be made to pay 50-60 crores atleast."
