The OST was a giveaway imo.
The initial verses of the OST lyrics serve as a prelude to the Drama- the scenes in the OST start with expression of love(via the sneaky flower exchange), the car scene and dance depict a friendly dynamic between the 2.And the later half shifts to questioning relationships(possibly after rejection)-the garden scene reveals heartbreak, angst and rejection. Her BPD could be the reason for rejecting Z.She probably wanted to keep it under wraps so she opted for someone like Mohib who’s less likely to question her and she could safeguard her secret and avoid scrutiny.I feel that the revelation of BPD might serve as the ice breaker between these 2.
MJ was flying very high imo. She had tons of admirers. Zaid was just one of those for her and I feel she didn't even keep a count of how many proposals she got and probably forgot who all proposed to her also.
Their first meeting- it was clear she took a brief moment to even register him- who was addressing her so casually- and the it was like, 'Oh this is Zaid' and though she hardly expected him because she has not kept track of him, he was important for the business...so she went on with the usual social talk of how she wouldn't have forgiven if he had not come. If I remember, she even left him halfway through the conversation or something when she got the phone call... Evan Zaid laughed when she said she wouldn't have forgiven him....he had the same insight into her character in that scene also...he knew very well she never even thought of seeing him there...just like he told her very coldly the vloggers were under her control...and few weeks later he tells her he knows she's not the type of person to adjust so much...at which she was surprised for the first time ..'Oh, I didn't know you knew me so well!'...
So in effect these are the clues on their backstory already shown in the show. MJ was everything to him once, but she hardly registered him back then. He was just a casual friend to her, she never gave much thought about him.
