Part 21
Next day early morning, Maan & Geet leave.
Both get on separate flights.
Maan returns to the city and Geet returns to her shooting set.
Geet would be gone for next three months or so.
Before the festival meet, Geet would send Maan few things every month.
But now, after festival almost a month has passed and other than the message 'landed safely. With the crew ' It has been total radio silence from her side.
No parcels, flowers, messages. Nothing.
Only the fact that he can see the newly released episode so knows that she is alive and fine.
Week by week, day by day, hour by hour. …subconsciously Maan was becaming unsettled.
Before, even when he reprimanded people, he did it with a devilish smile. But in today's planning meeting Maan had a serious look through out.
And when he questioned some of the results and criticized few people with frown, the executives were scared silly.
They came out of the meeting with shaking legs.
Ab kuch toh unsettling feeling ho rahi hai Maan ko, par who kya hai who samajh nahi aa rahi.
Samajhne ke liye one needs few steps:
Step 1 Realize that you are missing someone.
Step 2 Overcome your ego to contact first.
Step 3 Come up with a casual dialogue/topic to start the conversation.
Abhi uska step 1 bhi complete nahi hua hai.
Fortunately, Maan's secretary had a higher EQ.
After seeing him daily asking twice (once in morning and once before leaving in evening) if there are any packages for him, it was clear as day that what package Maan is waiting for.
And feeling the increasing suffocation at work. The Secretary decides to take matters into his own hand.
Anyways he had helped Madam with shopping and acted as her chauffeur too.
He contacts Geet after much deliberation.
Geet picks up the call from the unknown number.
G- Hello?
Assistant - Hello madam! Good morning! I am xxx speaking; I am Sir's assistant…. if you remember me.
G- Oh yes... yes. I remember. Hi. What happened? Why did you call me?
Assistant – Madam, that...the parcel you had sent for Sir recently has not arrived. May I know which courier service you used? Or some local shop contact? I will personally check about the failed delivery; you don't have to be bothered about it
G-...........
G-... um......
Geet thinks fast and hard.
This call out of the blue and that too from the secretary.
She had thought that package she had sent before wasn't delivered to Maan or he didn't care about it at all. As he didn't mention it once.
Looks like she almost made a big mistake and antagonized the Big Devil!!!
Geet quickly comes up with a plausible excuse.
G- Actually…I didn't want to order anything from the local shops anymore and I have been in a deserted shooting location... it has been very hard to get any courier service here.
Assistant -Oh is that so. Worry not madam. Would it be possible to send me your location. I'll arrange for the pickup by end of the day. Meanwhile I'll also inform Sir of the difficulties on your behalf. You don't have to be too concerned.
He doesn't want madam telling Sir that your assistant is calling me.
G-Oh no…I mean. Oh, so fast... actually…today is not convenient. Ask that person to come tomorrow morning around 7 am to pick up stuff.
Assistant - Sure. Thankyou Madam for always keeping Sir in your kind thoughts. Have a wonderful day.
G-...... yeah... sure... sure... bye
The assistant was ecstatic and immediately arranged someone to go to Geet’s location and pick up the parcel.
On the other hand, Geet panicked.
Although she had made flimsy excuse which was barely acceptable, she can't send some shoddy trinket.
She thought things are stable no need to send stuff to him. He doesn't seem to want her getting too close and he didn't seem to care for the things she had given to him...didn't mention anything he has received so far.
Woh kyun itna effort daale... jab ye sab karne ya na karne se same hi effect hai.
Kuch bhi accept karne se pehle 10 sawaal uske.
Geet is worried.
She takes half a day off, goes around the market. But doesn't find anything interesting or noteworthy.
She thinks hard, the only time Maan had accepted something had been when she gave him food... but she can't do that now.
After thinking some more, she goes into the kitchen of the place they are staying and gets permission to use it for 2-3 hrs while cursing Maan mentally.
He keeps claiming he doesn't want her to cook but he will only be pacified after she feeds him food.
She cooks a big batch of cookies.
First, she thought simple rectangular ones are fine but couldn't find a rectangular cutter only a round one. After cutting out round shaped so much cookie dough was left.
On a whim she turns them into whimsical shaped cookies. No wastage in her kitchen
After everything is baked, she puts them in a pretty box and ties a nice-looking bow on it.
G-Done! Mission accomplished!

On the other side,
The Assistant waits for Maan to ask him about couriers.
Like an alarm clock, before leaving work Maan asks him if he got any couriers.
Assistant – Sir, actually the courier will arrive the day after tomorrow.
M-Huh?
Assistant - I mean... there is no courier today.
M- And what is arriving day after tomorrow?
Assistant - That…I found out that Madam wanted to send you few things, but she couldn't find any reliable courier. So, I have arranged a pickup tomorrow morning nd it should reach here the day after tomorrow.
M- Is that so...?
Assistant nods obediently.
M- Hmm she is usually very busy, t's not easy for her to handle every trivial thing on her own.
Maan rubs his chin in deep thought.
After a few moments he tells the assistant.
M- Arrange a reliable person by her side who can take care of all these things for her. Make sure they have defense combat training. Good at driving. Patient. Can act as assistant if required. The job would mostly be accompanying her and carrying her stuff, but extra skills are good to have.
Assistant feels that Maan is asking for too many skills for a person who needs to just carry Madam’s stuff, but he nods seriously and decides to look into retired service woman.

The cookies are picked up and get delivered on time much to everyone's relief.
Man shakes the box gently and then proceeds to open the ribbon bow. Trying to guess what it could be this time.
After opening the box, he realizes it's just a box of cookies.
Broken cookies….
He feels a sense of disappointment. The result didn't match the anticipation at all.
He casually takes a round unbroken piece and eats it while rummaging inside the box to separate out the whole round ones from the other bits and pieces.
It is then he notices that the taste was rather good, suiting his palate very well and these odd, shaped ones are deliberately made so…not broken things.
He picks one up to examine it and realizes it looked a bit like a leaf. Another one looked like a cloud. And then…
…And then he hears his Assistant knock on the door calling him for the meeting and he realizes more than 30 mins had passed as he had been looking into these designs.
He quickly puts the box away in the desk and leaves.
Clearly this woman-Geet still knows how to mess with him.
Fine! This round she has won.
This was a half-baked unwilling complement.
Not many people tangle with him and win and come out of it unscathed.
