I think one of the major reasons many people are upset is the marketing.I didn't watch MPHT but I listened to the OST on YT and even in that video, there is Areeb and we can understand that it is a love triangle.The montage has all 3 of them in it.So,atleast the audience knew what they were signing up for.But here we don't even get to see Ayra in any of the initial promotions and not even a hint is there for us to understand ke she has a prominent role.Only the teasers kind of had relevance to the story.

And now that the audience has seen her important role, and she’s been a victim of that family , and all of Zaid’s grand gestures of love have been towards HER and not MJ - it makes sense why the audience is so divided. Neither characters are any saints - they’ve all done questionable things but the romance , if any, has been Zaid Ayra centric. At least so far. So yeah the marketing was completely bizarre. You have to show all important players not just the couple who will somehow end up together.

It’s cheating the audience for sure. However, I do feel once the story and tone of the show became clear, a lot of people did accept this isn’t a love story. So the expectations are clear now for a lot of us. However, the lingering bitterness from people expecting wahaj-ayeza chemistry is also justified. Both things are true

Zaid then moved on, made a mental list on what not he wants in his partner. He doesn’t want any of SoBo MJ and so he choose Thane version of MJ , Aira may not be rich , stylish but she is basically Passive narcissist. So back , Aira rejected and he goes ahead with marriage with MJ , his former love who rejected him once and now agreed to marry him - he was not choice but kind of onky option . Imagine u love somebody they reject u , fall in love and marry someone like Moib and then when he dumps her she decides to marry u - this could be reason why Zaid won’t let MJ in , he thinks if tomorrow she finds someone she is capable of leaving him again and he doesn’t want to go thru pain again and here Aira is shield he choose, his commitment to her will protect him from pain he thinks MJ will / might give . With MJ he expects love in return and with Aira he needs her to protect himself from MJ .

If you ask me, yes he loves Ayra. But you can love anyone. There is a difference between loving someone and being in love with someone. Huge difference. Yes, he won't leave Ayra bcz he loves her, respects her and obviously he has a commitment especially bcz he asked her to marry him.

Also, I definitely believe his dialogue on balcony referred Mubashira only. MJ didn't ask a generalised question. She asked him about liking her. He replied refering to his past unrequited crush. I don't think that it was in reference with Ayra at all.. It was in reference to accepting his love for MJ. Also next week promos also indicate that they had a history.

In addition to this, I don't think there was any cruel rejection from MJ in the past. I feel, he must have loved her, she refused or didn't take it seriously. Bcz looked like he accepted her rejection with grace. Like in first epi she says tum nahi aate to maardeti and thanking him for protecting her. This doesn't indicate any bitter rejection. But he was heartbroken and later may be had this bitterness inside him I think. Like she agreed to marry him only after she had a divorce.. So..

TRP audience don't really bother until there is drama and they get entertained.This is atleast what happens in Indian shows.IDK about pak dramas but going by the show's consistent numbers,I think they are fine with it.It is the online audience that too,a section of them.There are people who are rooting for Ayra/Zaid-Ayra.

The Ayra/Zaid camp is very real. You can’t ignore it. It’s because of the focus on Ayra and Zaid/Ayra in the show itself. And people are pissed the writing is dumbing down Ayra to prop up MJ. Also there is the anti MJ camp too.

I am okay with both pairings so I’m just like whatever lol. Also, I don’t think Ayra is in this story for very long anyway - that girl just signed her death warrant. So the only option left will be Zaid MJ anyway

The ratings have been very good for Mein in terms of viewership - regardless of what the focus on the show has been.
