I think Ruhi was testing what Armaan is thinking about Abhira. And about Armaan if he. is still worried about the differences, why has he started to flirt full fledged. It did not make any sense this sudden flirting. I think this plot was just to give the promise not to come to college ever. And that means Yuvraj will soon be seen and Abhira will have to face him alone.

I also feel something serious will happen in college where his absence will cost a lot. Or maybe he will break that promise which will have it's own ramifications.
