Heeeellllluuuu!

So I'm here after 1923860 days. Literally. But I finished my goal of 100 books in 2023 and since Lizzie Dee asked me if I read anything great I'd mention a few of the books I enjoyed more than expectation.

Nothing was EXTREMELY EXCEPTIONAL here (apart from a few in bold) , they're all just fun reads.

1. The Kiss Thief - L.J Shen

2. Contractually Yours - Nadia Lee

3. Dirty Headlines - L.J Shen

4. The Brooklyn Kings Series - L.K Shaw

5. Ruthless Rival - L.J Shen (Rated this 5 stars for some reason so...)

6. The Maddest Obsession - Danielle Lori (BOMB Book...Excellent one)

7. The Summer we Fell - Elizabeth O'roark

8. Things We Hide from the light - Lucy Score (This one is BOMB.COM)

9. Deception Triology - Rina Kent (The plot's good...writing needs work)

10. The Devil You Know - Elizabeth O'Roark

Books That didn't live up to the hype and broke my heart.

1. Things we left Behind : OH MY GOD! The way this was beyond what I expected. I was waiting so badly for this since months but when it finally hit the stands I was so disappointed with the flow and how the characters didn't seem like themselves throughout the book. They were something else in previous books from the series and turned total opposite later on. I DID NOT ENJOY THIS. Not at all worth the wait.

2. King Of Greed - Okay so I absolutely loved Ana Huang in the beginning of 2023. I'd just finished Twisted series and King of Wrath and I was enamored with the way she wrote her books. Considering the fact that Twisted Hate is still the book that started my reading spree again after 1.5 years, it is safe to say I expected A LOT from her. But since the second book of King of Sin series (King of Pride) released the books have become a snooze fest. I was waiting so eagerly for this because it was a "marriage in crisis" trope and that has angst but this didn't live up to it at all. SAD.

3. The Silent Patient : The hype that this book had was INSANE but I didn't get it. Yes the book had a great story and a different plot but not the kind of thing that was being said around on the internet. It was okaayyy I guess? Nothing over the top. Didn't like it much.

4. The Sleeping murder : I live on Christie books and this was my first Marple. I expected more from it but the pace of the book wasn't for me. It didn't sit well, felt boring and the flow kept swinging around a lot. If that makes sense? Yeah I didn't get this book.

BOOKS I AM SUPER DUPER EXCITED FOR.

THE SYNDICATER : The Dark Verse series by Runyx is my kryptonite. I cannot deny how much I am in love with this series and how much I will never stop recommending this to any and everyone. This is a perfect mix of flavours with - mystery, suspense, romance, smut, angst and plot so good it would be a rollercoaster ride for all. The last book of the series is yet to come up and I cannot in my right mind wait for it.

Recommendations :

1. DARK VERSE SERIES. (With bold capitals)

2. Try L.J Shen's books

3. Catharina Maura's Windsor series is decent

4. Elizabeth O'Roark's devil series is again great

5. On Dublin Street By Samantha Young

What kind of books are these bolded ones or the LJ Shen ones? I don’t do dark or mafia romance or RH or Omegaverse - I have a LOT of no-can-dos in romance after having been bitten hard by some duds I’ve read recently smiley36. That is assuming these are all romance. I know you recommended Elizabeth O’Roark to me ages ago, she’s on my TBR - need to get to it soon. smiley24 Catharina Maura has been recommended a few times in the FB group I’m in so I’ll try her too.

TWLB - I agree. I didn’t get the hype. 95% of the FB group thinks it’s the best one in the series and I can’t move from TWNGO! smiley36 And they all hate the second book which I thought wasn’t bad at all!

Ana Huang- I haven’t read anything since Twisted Hate but she’s all over SM and I know her books are crazy popular.

Re Sleeping Murder: I first read AC’s books wayyyy back when I was in school and when I hadn’t been so exposed to reading and I thought she and most of her works were GOAT. I understand how some of them might feel dated now. But I hate the idea of rewriting problematic portions of older books to fit in with the modern day sensibilities. smiley29 It’s taking wokeness too far

Ah... Alchemist... it's one of the best books for understanding the purpose and fulfillment of life, whether it be by accumulating material wealth or a spiritual treasure, a true testament to wisdom and philosophy.

Throughout the book, there are quotes about life and its further journey, such as -- 'Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself!!'

'Love is not to be found in someone else but in ourselves; we simply have to awaken it. But in order to do that, we need another person!' How true it is!
