As for Salman and Devdas...would he play a loser?

Sadly there is not even one happy ending with SRK and Aish. Or Salman and Aish for that matter too.

I think if Salman had gotten the role of Devdas like he expected to, he would not have branded him a loser then. He was clearly very upset that SRK got a role that he felt was going to go to him.

Me too, I find it interesting (the fact of no 'Aish-happy-endings' with Salman and SRK in movies...and in life...)

We can only specualte...Bhansali decided to take SRK (after Govinda and Salman declined) who really can play weak persons (characterly and emotionally) by making them relatable and even getting people to root for the character.

An arrogant young Devdas enjoying the love of his childhood friend and equally having feelings for her (he doesn't want to really admit) not standing up against his father...and then mourning his own decision(s) killing/punishing himself by drinking himself to death...I don't see Salman in this (Aish got only finalised a month after SRK took the role... before, Paro had been offered to other actresses). Only Chandramukhi/Madhuri had been in Bhansali's mind already when writing his version of the novel for the film.

Bhansali wanted to cast Govinda or Salman as Devdas? I can't ever imagine Govinda being given a serious role especially one like this. I can't even imagine Bhansali would be interested in Govinda. And in Salman's own interview, he said he was the last to know about the Devdas casting so he couldn't have declined.

Wasn't Paro offered to Kajol but she refused? I heard Madhuri was a favorite of Bhansali and he had been trying to cast her since Khamoshi.

Sorry, it was a not accurate remark... Govinda had been offered the role Jackie Shroff entually was casted in...and I don't know how accurate it is that Salman got offered the role of Devdas... (and it isn't really important, imo, as it is speculation about something that didn't happen smiley2)

Oh okay, that makes way more sense. I was in shock at the idea that anybody would offer Govinda the role of Devdas lol. I'm not a Govinda fan so I'm glad Jackie Shroff got it. I'm not a Jackie Shroff fan either but he did fine in the role and I take him to be a more serious actor despite his son's existence.

I'm assuming Salman being offered Devdas is just a false report based on his own interview posted in the other thread about how he was the last to know. And his feud began with Bhansali because Devdas was not offered to him. If he had been offered the role, he would never have rejected it. It took him years to make up with Bhansali and then they had another feud (this one permanent as of now) after Guzaarish was given to Hrithik.

I know Selmon bhoi was obsessed with her at one point, so this is pretty much projection but from a writing perspective yeah Nandini should have ended up with Selmon bhoi's character.

Arranged marriages are horrid. Forced arranged married are more horrid. Nandini gal, you got a chance to fight the patriarchy and live in Milan while doing so???? Wazupwitchu?

Aish would rightly never breath the same air as Bhoi. Letting go of Aish from both those movies subtracts from them. So yeah

Actually it makes sense in an intense love story that Nandini and Sameer unite but Bhansali wanted tragedy so he let her be with Vanraj.

Salman's true love for Aish might be showing up in disguisesmiley36

He might have heard the Abhi-Aish break up rumours! smiley37
