Deepika and Ranveer are not in this so I'm surprised you did not watch it.

In the recent thread about best KJo film, I thought it was interesting that most people noted that it was his 2010s movies, SOTY and especially ADHM, which were the ones they least revisited or liked least of all. They have not caught on like his 90s/2000s movies and even Rocky Aur Rani has been more popular now and more a part of public discourse.
It seems like almost everyone watched ADHM once, never watched it again, so we're all forgetting how vile some of these scenes were. Maybe in some ways, the lack of repeat value is unconsciously embedded in us because we were so disturbed the first time around that we had to block these memories of the movie.
I agree, Aish had the best character. If I remember correctly, she breaks up with Ayan after the dinner scene where she can see that Ayan is just using her to make Alizeh jealous. That, having fallen for him now, she knows he will never love her the way he loves Alizeh so she breaks things off which was the mature thing to do.
Was Ayan responsible for breaking up Alizeh's marriage? I don't remember why her marriage broke up but I don't remember him doing anything to instigate it. Didn't she disappear from his life for years and only when he goes looking for her that he finds out from DJ Ali that they're not together anymore.
I've heard mixed things about Fawad's role as Ali. Some say he had a bigger part which was cut out because of all the political tensions and that the script made less sense because he was so central to Alizeh's role. Others, including KJo, say it was always a guest appearance and only 9-15 minutes of screentime. There's one deleted scene with Fawad and Anushka but also deleted scenes with the other principal actors so it doesn't seem like Fawad's part was cut down as much as it was never a big part in the first place. Just an obstacle for the main protagonists.
Yes, so I think the underlying narrative was that Ayaan's passion and Fawad's character's past mistakes made her insecure in her marriage. When Fawad's character met Ayaan at a concert years after his divorce, he told him tumhara pyaar itna zyada tha ki mera pyaar kam pad gaya.
This part of the movie was seriously just bad narrative to just end up Ayaan and Alizeh together in her last months.
It'd make sense that a terminally ill person would gravitate towards their love, even if an single ex, than a random so-called best friend who abandoned them and then tried "make them jealous" despite their married status. I have had these tactics used on me by absolute abusive creeps, and I would never want to see their face again tbh.

What is Deepika and Ranveer has to do with it? I am not fan of either of them.

The storyline makes even less sense then if she divorced Fawad because she felt Ayan loved her more than Fawad ever did. Weren't the issues before marriage that he was a philanderer? It would make more sense that she divorced him because he reverted to his old ways. It also doesn't make sense that their marriage collapsed because Fawad felt Alizeh loved Ayan more. The deleted scene below specifically has Fawad say that he has no jealousy of Alizeh's friendship with Ayan and Alizeh wishes he would feel jealous. If anything, the problem in their marriage seemed to be that Alizeh loved Fawad more than he loved her.

I think the film was trying to say that for Alizeh, she loved Ayan more than Fawad but it was a platonic love. It just so happened that her bad experience with romantic love meant that she valued the love of friendship more. In the below clip, she keeps repeating that her love for Ayan as a friend meant more to her than romantic love to explain why she goes back to her best friend instead of her ex-husband. But like you said, it does not work considering what a creep Ayan is and all the red flags in their friendship so I can't see it.

Similarly, it was difficult for me to believe the narrative that Aishwarya could fall in love with Ayan after having been loved by SRK. More confusing was that SKR's character keeps going on about the beauty of unreciprocated love (these lines are word for word what Karan thinks himself about the matter) but he and Aish were married...does this mean she never loved him? Or that she stopped loving him after the divorce and that's why SRK only has unreciprocated love for her now? So many plot points and relationships that are unclear.
actually alizeh said that she divorced Ali becoz of his bewafai (betrayal). It was ali who said that she left him becoz of ayan obviously he didn't want to tell that he cheated herOriginally posted by: Blueeeee
The scene was so creepy and triggering, I don't remember it being this disgusting. Men pass off their obsession and need for control over women as love. It is vile.
I thought and still think that Aish had the best arc. She didn't let him use her. She had a healthy approach.
There was nothing to logically justify Alizeh's divorce either. She was so headstrong and rightly so that she didn't love Ayan. Then it makes no sense why Ayan would be the one to sow seeds of distrust in her marriage. It was just a very misogynist film.
Also whether they changed the arc because of what hungama happened with Fawad would never be discussed in current times. So there is that.
What is Deepika and Ranveer has to do with it? I am not fan of either of them.
Yes, I'm well aware from the first time you told me.

Ok, that's what I remembered as well that he never gave up his old ways. That means we have another toxic male character, because not only was he a perpetual cheater, but then he gives false hope to Ayan by telling him that the marriage failed because Alizeh loved Ayan more, which further fuels Ayan's belief that he can force Alizeh to love him if he sticks around long enough. No wonder Karan deleted that deleted scene where Fawad's Ali specifically states that he has no jealousy of Alizeh's friendship with Ayan and Alizeh feels a bit annoyed by his lack of a reaction. It's clear she was more into him than he was into her.
actually Ali said 'ayan loves alizeh more than he loved alizeh' so that ali's love looked very small in front of ayan's love but he didn't mention his own cheating. Anyways there was a deleted scene in which ayan tells saba (Aishwarya) 'my ex girlfriend alizeh is coming to meet us' then saba corrected him 'she was not even ur girlfriend, right?' then ayan says 'oh right'. He pushed alizeh becoz she did not get jealous by ayan-sabaOriginally posted by: RaniPreityAish

Oh I see. Yeah I can buy that Ayan loved Alizeh more than Ali did even if both had very toxic forms of love, but in different ways. Ayan loving too much and Ali not loving enough.
That's classic predator behavior with Ayan claiming Alizeh was an ex-girlfriend even though they were never romantically involved like that and even Aish/Saba knew the truth and called him out on that. I didn't realize that the fight between Ayan and Alizeh where Ayan pushes her was right after that dinner scene because she didn't get jealous.
