Begusarai was one of a kind. It was initially written by Tigmangshu Dhulia.. It was i presume was an inspiration of Gangs of Wasseypur. Begusarai was one of the very rare show that has been made in Itv rather than Madhubala, Rangrasia and Diya aur Baati Hum

Tigmanshu Dhulia always chooses unique projects with strong writing. I loved Criminal Justice which he produced. I believe Dhulia was approached for Begusarai after the writing was final. He mentioned in his interview that it was presented to him just like a film script. He made his inputs in shooting the pilot episode and other useful advice. He gets heartland India just right. And the outdoor locations and the influence of the Thakur family were presented just right. They should have included more of that instead of skipping to kitchen politics and the good bahu vs evil bahu nonsense after Lakhan's family moves into the haveli.

The directors Ravindra Gautam and Kamal Monga of Begusarai were also part of Pratigya which is set in U.P. Vishal mentioned in one of his interviews that Ravindra Gautam's helped a lot in getting his character right.

Stories need to be changed for trps. Begusarai was supposed to be the story king making between Mithilesh the natural heir being the first born, Lakhan the self proclaimed Authority and Priyom the Pauper pleaser, Bindiya being the game changer. But Lakhan 's obsessed love for Poonam garnered more attention, later Swastik took over and made it a passionate lovestory of a Young Dominating Thakur and his submissive wife. They completely drop the king making plot. Main plot get sidelined by the subplot..

TRP is the very devil. They introduce unnecessary drama for TRP when the audience should be exposed to different genres.In a way I'm glad CJL introduced Dr.Arjun before Deva and Tara were a committed couple. And he isn't sickly sweet and honorable like the usual third lead.

Begusarai also had elements of Mahabharata. Vishal's Lakhan is obviously Bhim. Lakhan is also Dushasana when he drags Bindiya by her hair to the street, Mithilesh is Duryodhana, Priyom is Arjun, Lakhan's father is Vidur and Poonam is Draupadi who loves Arjun but is in turn passionately loved by Bhim. Bindiya is also Draupadi with the Cheerharan scene.

He is so far and so forth is a normal guy. He had immense potential to turn negative or turning the sole support of Deva and Tara. Chances are high that he will be negative because Deva had taken rightfully what he deserves but definitely not making Arjun happy.
