And Salman slapped everyone from shilpa, to karishma and threatened poor bhoomika in tere naam (with super hit romantic songs btw)

Hrithik might be the only one who did saaf sutra characters ….

You have compared a lot of films with Animal. Right now we only have the British censor board article. To me it is a bit B grade, from what I have read. There is mainstream cinema..and there are Adult films with rape and excessive violence. There is a big market for it. It will surprise me if Dharma will be scurrying to make films like this..like he was chasing SLB,SSR genre of films. A line was crossed with this film. I believe that there will be a price to pay..regarding image and kind of films RK signs next.

Whatever the film makes at the BO-no superstar would like to do go down this route at this stage in their career. Rape and Violence are avoided by superstars at least in the last 10-20 years.

Devdas is the father of all these characters smiley36

My biggest problem with Kabir Singh was the happy ending.Devdas didn’t get a happy ending . Neither did Radhe Mohan from Tere Naam. That’s how self destructive characters usually end up.

You haven't watched Jawan then smiley36 And FFS Salman beats up 10 men at once in all his films.

Sexual harassment is something all BW heroes have done onscreen, I repeat all. It's another thing that those were passed off as romantic gestures.

Rape is a also a common theme. Has anywhere been mentioned that the main character in Animal engages in rape, though? I saw sexual assault mentioned but not specified by whom!

Animal doesn't seems like a movie which is glorifying or justifying violence against women in any manner because it is being done by a man who has issues

Separate movie from the audience, in Animal's case, it is the audience which is hoping for scenes which would teach whatever it is they want to teach these "feminists", it is not the makers but audience who is problematic this time and there is no happy ending to this

He is driven by personal grudges and petty squabbles, all neatly tied in with misogyny and alpha male syndrome. He even called Ranbir an alpha off screen. You just can't make this up. smiley36

From a techie perspective, alpha males are true to the definition of that word. Alpha versions are insecure too.smiley4

r/TwoXChromosomes - Alpha Males = Alpha Software?

I think the user Pathaka already pointed it out in the other thread. People who will misread the film will misread it regardless of anything. That section of audience will completely miss the point of a film like American Psycho or Fight Club. They don't see it as some sort of subversive meta commentary, they see it as playing it straight.

It was the same issue with Joker a couple of years. A lot of hype about how Joker would cause a rise in violence and what not, and the film just kinda came and went. Blockbusters rarely actually cause that kind of impact anymore. Consumption is too fragmented.

We indian audience need to be more evolved when it comes to movie viewing/reviewing

Even american wouldnt look to discuss social issues with every releases when in fact they are showing way much much more violence in tgeir movies jn general and in particular against women despite US being the main creater n exporter of wokeism.

Unless n untill the movie is strictly not made for social purposes or it doesnt white wash the crimes n glorify actual criminal as in case of sanju, raees etc...no need to show off of how much of a woke you are. It makes such people look wannabes

Aise toh phir bollywood movies hi nahi bana payega kyoki har movie mein se kuch na kuch toh niklega hi jis se inko problem hoegi hi. Aur yeh log toh hindi movies dekhne bhi nahi jaate hoenge becuase hindi movies are basically targeted at masses

I dont think we will see anything different in Animal too. However, RK's character is portrayed to be an outright deranged man so I am interested too see how Vanga will justify that.

Yes, before BJP, India was a paradise for women's rights and safety. Men were not misogynistic. Especially not liberal men.

Eta. Also in the U.S. JFK, Bill Clinton, not at all misogynistic. Harvey Weinstein definitely not.

I also dont want to stir the shit but by the same logic people who loved raees which was based on a gangster involved in terrorism are all to be considered underworld and terror supporters and the "liberals" who hated TKF, TKS would all be taken as terror apologists ???smiley1
