I thought you were talking about episodes when you talked about 21-25smiley36. Myself not a big fan of dramas though. I recently watched Parasite and enjoyed it. Koreans are now more creative with upward trend. I remember initial K-dramas used to be very toxic. I found boys over flowers very problematic, especially the main lead, even as a teeanger. Nowadays it seems to be good.

This one already finished? I thought it's a new show or something. Never heard of it. I didn't watch any green tv dramas.

I also never liked kdramas when I first saw it as a teen and hated bof. Bof and playful kiss were my first kdramas and in PK atleast the fl was cute and acted well but bof fl and ml were unbareable to watch. But kdramas from 2016-17 started being really good. They changed the whole toxic ml thing to sweet sensitive ml and dumb fls to smart and independent ones. They does strong independent women and green flag men right most of the times. Also kdramas have all type of genres and their creativity is very big. The production quality also drastically changed from 2016-17. The cinematographer is really good in kdramas.

Yeah, and it's good. I only judge Pakistani dramas after it's over since there has been many dramas that are good initially and then go downward.

Koreans are progressing but they have a toxic work culture also deep-rooted gender disparity. A few years ago, I read a novel called Kim-ji-young. Honestly, after reading it, I can't get over my perspective towards Korea.

Which do you think are worth watching K-dramas? I don't mind any genre provided it's good.

Most pak dramas have a tendency of starting well then dragging in the second half and then having a rushed ending. That's like 80% of pak dramas. I can only remember 5-6 pak dramas I have watched which had a proper ending with all loose ends closed.

If we see dramas and movies based on the actual economical and cultural aspect and the status of women of a country then we won't be enjoying pak or Indian dramas and movies as well. Korea, Japan and China have a very toxic work culture according to the rest of the world but we cannot deny the fact that these countries are where they are now because the people in that country worked their ass off. The civic sense of people in these countries are much much higher than people from other countries. Korea and Japan are among the countries that controlled COVID in one of the best ways possible and that's solely because the citizens followed the instruction of the government. We Indians and Pakistans still blame the British for destroying us while ignoring the politicians still destroying the country but Japan rose up and became a powerful developed country again after Hiroshima and Nagasaki in few years because the people along with the government worked hard to built their country from scratches. They didn't waste their time on blame games. South Koreans get on the streets and force the government to resign if news of corruption comes out and they wont be destroying public properties in this process. South Korea has a history putting their leaders behind jail for corruption numerous times. I guess they only had very few Presidents who ended their terms without any trouble. But still their economy didn't suffer due to volatile political conditions.

But what do we do? We don't even care if the politicians have rape charges or corruption charges against them or are even educated enough to sit on the Parliament. We will still vote for them and make them win.

The condition of women in south asia is no better than South korea. Seoul is one of the safest cities in the world for women. None of the metropolitan cities in south asia can claim that. Japan as a whole country is one of the safest for women and children. Kids as young as 3-4 goes to school through metro on their own without any parents with them. That's how safe the country is. According to the law Indian women might enjoy more basic rights than South Korean women but the crime rate against women in SK is much lower than India. They have some hideous and inhuman crime stories against women throughout history but then which country don't.

Atleast they don't bring their misogyny and sexism into their dramas and movies anymore. Pakistan and India haven't even reached that stage.

I saw the movie version of Kim ji young and that's basically a universal story of women not just in South Korea. Atleast she had a understanding and loving husband.

25-21 is good, strong woman do bong soon is funny and have one of the cutest Kdrama couples if not the cutest, suspicious partner, Mr queen, hometown cha cha cha, moving, the glory, story of the nine tailed, goblin, flower of evil.

These are some.good kdramas that are coming to my mind right now. Some are suspense thrillers and most of them are available on Netflix.

Korea though looks more advanced. They have more sexism than any other East Asian countries. It's not even comparable. They have a much higher pay gap between men and women compared to Japan and China. Also, even before the atomic bomb destroyed two cities, Japan was a powerful nation. Can't say that about Korea though. It used to be a broken nation full of poverty. Though there has been rapid progress in Korea, there hasn't been a change in people's perspectives and gender imbalance. In some aspects, though they are safe, they are even worse than South Asian countries. It's not only about being safe, it's about the sexism you face every day. Its good at least in drama they are bringing change.

Indian women faces as much sexism as South Korean women on a daily basis but the law is more lenient towards women in India.

Japan is also very famous for their sexism. They barely have female politicians. Indian constitution and laws have been mostly pro women but that don't change much. Women's safety, women's education, life expectancy and health are much better in those countries than in India. Both Japan and south Korea are facing the consequences of their sexism as most women are refusing to get married and settle down and have children as they have to sacrifice their career in the process and these countries are too expensive for just a man to run the entire household. Their young population level is decreasing drastically and aging population is increasing rapidly.
