If he did not care for her, why would he be so worried for her that he cannot focus. It's kind of cute.

He did not agree with his mumma, he meant that he is hurt (takleef) despite that he will take her.

That is how you want to interpret. That isn't what he necessarily meant when immediately after Manveer accused Sahiba for being behind his hospital trips, he said he gets takleef due to her presence but he still wants to do her favours.
