I remember how tugged I felt when I watched it the first time....'Nav was asking so many inconvenient questions to Abhi and Abhi was hurting silently....
Back then I really thought 'Nav is the guy who will put sense into Abhi and Akshu, show them a mirror, how they've hurt each other and make them realize the pain and emptiness they caused in each others lives...because he was a simple man, plain and straightforward...innocent enough to ask his bhaiji questions which nobody else could ask or even Abhi wouldn't dare to ask himself. He was the one who had much higher EQ than Akshara and he could force her to consider that there were alternate and much better ways to do deal with something than the ones she always chose...He was supposed to be the neutral, sensible one, who could balance their imbalances with his innocence, pure heart, without selfishness and malice. That is how they introduced his character.
But then makers ruined him, changed his character and made him self-righteous, attention seeking, selfish person who sanctimoniously argued with Abhi about himself and would victimize and pity himself infront of Akshara, so she'd feel guilty and responsible for his unhappiness. He just became too human and morally, was no better than the others in the story. So that is why his earlier episodes felt so refreshing, sweet and likable, whereas all the later ones were unpleasant, irking, and unlikable. Just my 2 cents.
