He couldn't leave before his contract was over How can he have any say in story or other characters? Harshad gets good money but Star Plus gets crores from a 30 second advertisement.

Also Abhi was the reason why that random guy had to steal mangalsutra from him. His effects are so immense that even random thieves and grooms get affected.
