The people in power are mostly afraid (cowards) because Israel keeps using this antisemitism narrative where if you criticize the government it means you must hate them but like the civilians of the world finally realized they too will speak one day and Palestine will be free. I genuinely believe Israel is running out of time and support now and Insha Allah Palestine will be free one day soon.

But I am wary of humanizing Hamas. Nor should we ever garner sympathy for militants who capture civilians as hostages.

Israel is a settler colonial state that is committing genocide. I am all for the Palestinian people and the greater Arab world to thrive and exist freely. But at the same time, Hamas is a terrorist organization that has brutalized people and will continue to do so. A few hostages treated kindly does not erase the crimes against humanity they committed.

Definitely agree with this. There’s no humanising any of these organisations or militants, however it’s also important to share these experiences for the people who like to lump Hamas and Palestinians as one group. There have been two other hostages who also recounted experiences that was contrary to what the Israeli news was reporting. Ironically these two hostages (the one whose video was posted here) were the same ones that Israel refused to receive. I thought the whole intent of their right to defend was to save their hostages. Instead they’re carpet bombing and collectively punishing Palestinian civilians. I wonder if they ever thought that their bombs might kill the Israeli hostages as well. I know they’ve thought about it, but the reality is they don’t care.

Sharing these experiences is essential because Pro-Israel media would never do it, and people who like to generalise all Palestinians and equate them to Hamas will continue to rely on Zionist news to dehumanise the Palestinian civilians.
