Man, what are you talking about? Darlings was a Red Chillies script. Jasmeet has been floating ideas with RCE for years. Before that, she was supposed to do some other movie with them that didn't work out. When they approached Alia to star in it, she also wanted to coproduce so they let her.

It is the same way she's coproducing Jigra with KJo now. She doesn't just want an upfront payment anymore but wants more credit.

I like Alia but let her first do something on her own before we heap so much credit. She has been exceptionally lucky and received more than her fair share of support from the biggest names to be where she is right now.

Man, the insecurities of a certain fandom 😭😭. I think it's a common thing when the fans start feeling the heat of their favourite being replaced.

Now, this wasn't about comparing Deepika and Alia, as I've said multiple times that Deepika is a fantastic actress and star. But let's be real, Alia Bhatt has carved her own path and is probably the biggest competition for Deepika right now. The whole "young replaces the old" theme is in full swing here.

But here's the kicker, unlike the previous superstars (and my definition of superstar isn't set in stone, it's just whoever's the hottest in Bollywood for a few years), Alia doesn't quite have that superstar aura. That's a game-changer for Bollywood, in my opinion.

I won't engage with those of you who seem to have an irrational dislike for Alia Bhatt. I'm not even a fan of Alia. I expected some backlash from her fans when I called her "average" and "ordinary-looking," but it seems like hate blinds some people. They saw the title and jumped to conclusions without reading the whole post.

There have been multiple female superstars who are not conventionally beautiful or not very glamorous - Asha Parekh (as per my Mom, she wasn't considered a looker but had a great style), Kajol etc.. Even Mumtaz is far cuter than beautiful in the conventional way - and she is one of biggest female leads ever. All these actresses were very popular and very successful.

Thank you for being the one who caught my drift in the post. I agree with you and now that I think about it, I think Rekha is another name who wasn't considered beautiful in her early days.

Maybe, looking back a few decades from now, we might see Alia Bhatt in a whole new light, with that star quality that I think she's missing at the moment.

Yeah, that's a key aspect of it. There's been a shift in Bollywood lately, and Alia Bhatt is making the most of it. Instead of just doing those cameo roles in big movies, she's picking projects that truly matter and will stand the test of time. Her movie choices are top-notch.

Yes, Karan Johar has helped her as well as others like Varun Dhawan and that other wooden actor. But when you look at where they all are now, it's clear Alia has outshone them. Doesn't she deserve some kudos for that?

I would rather admire someone who has actually worked hard n come up on their own and not had a curated career.
