Bollywood makes really good masala films, and here are some examples:
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) - Directed by Karan Johar, a classic family drama.
Lagaan (2001) - Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, an epic sports drama.
Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) - Directed by Nikkhil Advani, a heartwarming drama.
Dhoom (2004) - Directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, an action-packed franchise starter.
3 Idiots (2009) - Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, this film is a comedy-drama with a strong message about the education system. It was both critically acclaimed and a box office success.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)- An epic bachelors trip where the 3 main characters unlearn and relearn love and life's lessons
Vicky Donor (2012) - Directed by Shoojit Sircar, a comedy addressing sperm donation.
Chennai Express (2013) - Directed by Rohit Shetty, this film is a comedy-action masala entertainer with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.
Piku (2015) - Another Shoojit Sircar film, a heartwarming family drama.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) - Directed by Kabir Khan, a heartwarming story of a man's journey to reunite a lost child with her family.
Bajirao Mastani (2015) - Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a grand historical epic.
I personally like Shoojit Sircar, Rajkumar Hirani, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali films.
They make good masala films.
I love Gauri Shinde, thought English Vinglish was hands down the best Bollywood movie of last decade, followed by Queen.
