Not religion reasons but diplomatic reasons. Israel is one of the very few countries that stood by India during all the Indo-Pak wars. Even went against US at the time when US and Pak used to be chaddy buddies and suppored India. Israel did that because India was one of the few countries where Jews were treated well and taken in as refugees. It's the same with Russia. When India had a non allience strategy and didn't take US or USSR's side in the cold war Russia respected that and didn't bully India on the international level like the US. Russia also supported India when US was openly helping Pakistan in Indo-Pak wars. Unlike the west these two countries treated India the same from the start nomatter how powerless India was at the international front. They respected India's sovereignty and policies.
