Scarcely had the casting of Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita been finalised for Nitesh Tiwari's much-delayed adaptation of the Ramayan, one now hears that the hunt is on for a 'decent and sanskari' actor to play Laxman.

Several Actors have already said No, including Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda.

A source close to the development tells Subhash K Jha, "Agastya's hands are full. He has just completed The Archies with Zoya Akhtar and will be deep-diving into Ekkis with Sriram Raghavan. At this stage of his career, he can hardly afford to play second fiddle to another actor."

In fact, several Actors who have been approached to play Laxman have said the same thing: Why Laxman, why not Ram?

Lost opportunity for an eye catching title. He should fire his PR. Imagine the furor it would have caused if the title said, “Ranbir Kapoor picks up a film rejected by Bacchan heir and upcoming superstar newbie Agastya Nanda”

The nerve of him!smiley36 Not for rejecting. But why Laxman, why not Ram?

I mean, prove yourself at least in smaller but important roles first? Before demanding the lead in perhaps the 2nd biggest story of the subcontinent EVER?

This is what serious nepotism looks like. Someone like Siddhanth would not be in a position to reject it (back then).

Agastya has no chance. Ibrahim is so much more hotter, charming and has more potential. I have my bets on Ibrahim and Aryaman Deol as well.
