I voted for 'Yaad Kiya Dil Ne Kaha ho Tum', because again, its a slow, romantic song with a haunting melody.

I was waiting to see if anyone else would vote for this one. It’s hard to pick with so many great songs but this one wins it for me just because of how it makes me feel as soon as the first note hits.

Like others, I would have chosen 'Achcha Ji Main Haari', the famous choice with naughty hint to it. But then I read this option and I had to choose it. The way it makes it you feel, right from the first line, it has this quality that makes you feel 'high' on love. And then it follows the somber request to the lover to call out.

For me its the warmth and security and comfort it brings - right when the first note hits even before Hemantda begins singing. It's just very soothing to me - the reassurance and the sentiments conveyed by the lyrics as also Lata and Hemantda's voices (not to mention Dev on screen of course!)

Accha ji main haari is a great song but I love watching it more than listening to it.

My other choice was Abhi na jao chhodkar... because that one is just a classic right from how it begins with that lighter tune. Everything about it is perfection - the voices, the actors, the music, the lyrics! 10 stars!

That Ishaara is worth the whole careers of many of many singers. Voted for the 1st song. . although I liked the rest songs too. smiley27

I would like to know how other participants chose their favourite.

This is a ridiculously tough poll. Each and every song is a gem, It is like asking to pick one highest carat diamond from an array of highest carat diamonds.

Abhi Na Jao is one my favourites but I am going to ignore it for this poll.

The songs that I have shortlisted are:

Accha ji main haari (Kala Pani)
Tujhe jeevan ki dor se (Asli Naqli)
Dheere dheere chal (Love Marriage)
Tasveer teri dil mein (Maya)
Tere ghar ke saamne (Tere ghar ke saamne)

Still, this is a very tough choice.

Nope I cannot decide. Sorry about that.

If I really become ruthless, I can drop Accha ji main haari, but the other four are on the same footing and my favourites.

True. It is a tough choice. But like I was telling someone else not long ago ...life mein kabhi kabhi mushkil choices karne padte hain! smiley36

I would perhaps ask myself: If I had to listen to only one song for the rest of my life which one would it be? (If this helps at all! smiley36)

All the songs on the poll are ones I absolutely love. And I think everyone had the same dilemma as you because almost every song on the poll has received votes!

I would not want to leave behind a single one of those 4 songs, all of them are so melodious. Dev Anand's movies always had great music.

I will give it a try.

Usually thanks to SDB. But then, Hindi film music in the Golden Era was in a league of its own.

Btw, your siggy is so nostalgia -inducing! smiley42
