Anyway, decades later, all songs from GUIDE continue to enchant. An outlook poll in 2000s had ranked it as the greatest film album of all time.

I count it as SDB's best soundtrack. Probably among Shailendra's best too.

I think it was S-J. They were well-known to have ensured the award was in their favor. Warna Sooraj cannot hold a candle to Guide. Anyways I thought S-J's best came in the 50s.

Hasrat Jaipuri was gonna write the lyrics for this, but Dev felt he couldn't do justice to the depth and feel that was needed. Sahir and SDB wouldn't work together so he knocked on Shailendra's door.
