Suspense/Thriller

Suspense/Thriller is a state of mental uncertainty, anxiety being undecided, or being doubtful. In a narrative, suspense is the audience's excited anticipated about the plot or conflict (which may be heightened by a violent moment, stressful scene, puzzle, mystery, etc.) particularly as it affects a character for whom the audience feels sympathy. However, suspense is not exclusive to narratives.

Genres in Thriller

Mystery, Suspense, Supernatural, Political Thriller, Erotic Thriller, Psychological Thriller, Legal Thriller, horror and action.

Feelings Suspense/Thriller induces

Thrillers are characterized and defined by the moods they elicit, giving their audiences heightened feelings of suspense, excitement, surprise, anticipation and anxiety.

Suspense Music

The suspense, mystery, thriller, horror, and dark film genres use suspense music to leave the audience in shock and fear. Hence, the article focused on the workability of suspense background music and tips to use in the films.

How do you add suspense to a song?

Use crescendo

One way of doing this by adding a crescendo, gradually increasing the intensity and loudness of the music until the denouement, or climax, occurs and your audience gets their well-deserved payoff and breath of fresh air from all of the tension and suspense.

Why I like this song: I love the build up, the way it starts off as a soft, almost romantic number and then bam! At the refrain the build up is so great. It’s action packed and just apt for the genre and the movie it’s meant to be theme for.
