🏏India vs Sri Lanka, Super Fours, 4th Match, Asia Cup 2023🏏
We have now reached an exciting stage in the ongoing Asia Cup, as Sri Lanka will square off against India today in a Super 4 fixture.
Both teams are currently tied at 2 points each, and the winner will climb to the top spot on the points table.
India will be feeling very confident as they registered a thumping win over arch-rivals Pakistan in their latest fixture.
They will now look to build on the momentum as they prepare for the upcoming World Cup.
The top-order batting was outstanding for the Indians. Shubhman Gill and Rohit Sharma, who put up an unbeaten century stand against Nepal, were once again in prime form as they slammed individual half-centuries to lend a solid base.
Virat Kohli is back at his peak after slamming the 47th century of his ODI career. KL Rahul, who was playing his first ODI after a gap of almost 6 months, appeared to be fully fit as he scored an unbeaten ton. Coming to the bowling, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj make a potent opening pair and will look to exploit the overcast conditions in Colombo.
Kuldeep Yadav picked up a fifer in the match against Pakistan and displayed that with accurate line and length, he can be effective under any conditions.
Sri Lanka is in excellent form at the moment. The team has won each of its last 13 matches, which is the second-largest winning streak in ODI history, and the hosts will be eager to maintain that.
Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne haven’t been in the best of form this season, but given the fact that both of them are extremely talented, we expect them to bounce back sooner rather than later. The middle order has been a driving force of Sri Lanka's batting prowess.
Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kusal Mendis are in good touch and have scored two half-centuries each. Charith Asalanka has batted well in patches, but the team will want him to play a big inning if they want to beat a quality side like India. Dasun Shanaka's batting, too, has left a lot to be desired. Kasun Rajitha and Matheesha Pathirana will start the proceedings with the new ball.
Pathirana has bowled quite a bit in the recent IPL, and that experience might come in handy. Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage have picked up 10 wickets between them and will be effective on the pitch at Colombo.
Here is an interesting match to watch!
