It is not mentioned in Mahabharata or any reliable ancient Puranas

On the contrary, Mahabharata specifically mentions Shakuni's brother participating in the war.

Two of them were killed by Abhimanyu on Chakravyu day and with Karna's brothers

No issues. There are so many folklore that such confusions are pretty obvious

That's why I said that since his brothers are specifically mentioned fighting in the war, we might easily conclude that there is no truth in this folklore, it's uselessly made to demonize Shakuni
