"cooptation" is a forced consensus and a term that signals authocratic proceedings...a consensus originally had to do with democratic proceedings and decisions made with free will (for the good of many).

As for Pathaan...did you even watch it? Or the Tiger movies? Or Hrithik's war?

I don't know how much Gadar 2 really is nationalistic (or more leaning towards patriotic). But for Pathaan...nope...not nationalistic (although the beginning of the movie could have suggested) but very patriotic.

Being a patriot is inclusive of the people who live in India...it's not dividing...Chak De is a glorious example...

The current nationalism calls people anti-national who are profoundly patriotic (and really worried about what happened to India)...the Indian government doesn't work for the people in India but for their own agendas....it isn't patriotic.

I've watched all of them except Pathan. I could only watch bits & pieces of it. It was sooooooo Bad...imo!!

Why do you think Jim keeps saying he wants to hurt the proverbial "Bharat Mata" over and over and over.....They're playing to the gallery, trying to rile up nationalist sentiments. I hope you're not that naive.

Or SRK's "Jai Hind" scenes.....like they're not just as jingoistic as Sunnys "Hindustan Zindabad"

The problem is you haven't seen Gadar. It just like Pathan has good Pakistanis & bad Pakistanis. Just like Pathan it shows how people from both sides want peace. It's as nationalistic/jingoistic as Pathaan is & plays to the gallery just like the latter. It's just the media narratives that are different.

I don’t have free will

It doesn’t matter what I think. If I’m in a group of ten and nine people say let’s go to Mexico I have to goto Mexico. Or else I’m not being fair to other peoples 😆

4. King Bobby should also make a comeback with a sequel to....to...em..okay I can't remember any of his movie titles right now but the audience is demanding a Bobby return.

I wish media wasn’t a consensus so we could ignore that also 😆

I didn’t watch Pathaan because obviously I have no nostalgic feelings towards Shahrukh like his huge fan base who took it upon themselves to make the movie a blockbuster regardless of the content or acting( or lack there of). But my Pakistani friends who were SRK loyalists were so disappointed by the movie and decided to never watch his movies again.

You may confound nationalism with patriotism...the two movies you cite have to do with patriotism (positively connoted)...regimes with fascist tendencies (like current India) prefer nationalism (connoted as aggressive and negative since the dividing and authocratic fascist regimes around the world)...

It's Lord Bobby.....and he too is breaking records...albeit on the smaller screen with Ashram becoming the most watched OTT show. Think Indian " Squid Games".
