Ek zamaane mein DD Metro pe 9 baje shaam mein ek novel news programme start hua... Admittedly it was a new way of presenting news, and the anchors used to animatedly present news compared to the boring monotonous coverage by DD National news. I used to HATE this programe* because it clashed with my FAVORITE TV show at the time - Alif Laila. Fantasy tale full of Arabian beauties, djinns, paris and what not... I was hooked...
* That news programme was such a hit, it grew into an independent news channel - Aaj Tak. Quality had gone down the drain though today....

As far as I can recall , Aaj Tak used to get telecast from 10:00 PM for approx. 20 minutes. also . May be it got shifted to this slot later . Iirc , its lead journalist/host SP Singh died from Brain Hemorrhage or something after witnessing horrors of Uphar tragedy while covering it for news .

Any boys who used to play GTA? Another video game I used to love playing.

The (boring) Atlas cycle was really popular. But I was too short to be able to ride (around 8 years old I think). So I used to ride "kainchi(scissors)". Held the left handle (so I could only brake the rear tire) with left hand, clutched the seat with my right hand. My torso would float in the air and go through the cycle body's triangle, so I could pedal with both my feet. Something like this... When I learnt riding this, I was so confident I told my younger sibling to ride pillion, and then fell down with them 😬 But after some practice I could ride easily with my sibling on pillion even through crowded places. Anybody else here tried this? 😃

small corner shops where one could buy a bag of sweets with a "Fuffziger"

and now with 1 Euro like this:

Nowadays, small shops have revived this culture like this (nothing open anymore 😉):
