So glad the TB is over and feels great to not have to actively think about the show anymore.
Suddenly all the stress is gone!
I read some posts in the previous AT where some people have expressed that after the last episode they are certain there was MR. My apologies for bringing the topic of MR again, but I came across a comment under SH's last epi review video that I thought to share it here, it presents a compelling argument against the possibility of MR. Not sure if it by our IF user hypnotoad but it brings so much clarity into the whole thing.
I myself have never believed Murtasim was capable of it. He had a tough exterior, but was a kind, gentle soul who loved Meerab dearly and no way could have gone through with something like this. Meerab slapped, spitted on him, taunted him with the contract, pushed all his buttons and yes, Murtasim did get insanely angry but he could not have carried that anger for several minutes, though the whole ordeal while Meerab could be kicking, screaming and crying! He was not an insensitive monster that would have been okay inflicting pain on his love for several minutes.
In my mind, behind the closed door, he may have tried to demonstrate to her how easy it was for him to break the contract by forcefully kissing her or hugging her but then both got carried away, could not control it participating equally.
In this scenario also, Meerab could be feeling broken because the one thing that she was guarding fiercely against this marriage was gone and her ana/ego would not let her accept the fact that ultimately, by her giving into her desire she indirectly accepted this marriage and the man, that she was no longer capable of that hate that kept her going earlier, she lost control of her life again.
And this can also explain Murtasim's guilt right afterwards and tod-phod because in his anger, he started this chain reaction which they both could not control and ended up breaking the contract without Meerab actually explicitly doing it herself.
This also explains Murtasim's lack of guilt during their separation but also him asking for forgiveness at the end since he was the one that started it.

Rape is not an act of impulse. It is not a `snap' decision. For Murtasim to rape Merub, he would have had to hold her down while she physically struggled and fought back. He would have had to strip her clothes off her body while he held her down. She was a virgin and her body would not have been prepared for penetration. Penetration would have taken Murtasim multiple tries as would have any further thrusts. All this while, Merub would have cried and pleaded but Murtasim would have ignored her. She would have felt physical hurt while this was going on but Murtasim would have chosen to continue inflicting pain on her.
All in all, the process of rape would have taken Murtasim 15-20 minutes at minimum. From Haya, we know the door was closed for 2 hours. A process which takes 15-20 minutes at least is not an act of impulse - like firing a gun or slapping someone. For those 15-20, Murtasim would have made a series of micro-decisions to continue with the rape and how to effectively optimize his actions in response to Merub's reactions. He could have stopped any time, he could have listened to Merub's cries and pleas - but he chose to proceed with raping her. If rape is something you do in anger or when you snap to har ghar har mohalle har rishte mein har roz rape ho.
Someone who slaps another person is not automatically capable of rape - the perpetrator psychology is completely different. Even OG Murtasim was not capable of rape. This is not the type of anger that old Murtasim displayed. He was entitled but was no Peeral/Meeral - in E1, he fought with Maliks for the izzat of a poor farmer's daughter. Old Murtasim also showed a lot of empathy when he held out his hand to Merub when Wakas left or in the dargah, the man who said mujhe dard hota hai when Merub cries. Old Murtasim -before Merub's love changed him - did not have the character traits that lends to him being a rapist.
