I m one of the very few people who watched a few epis of main na janu as all 3 leads r my fave.... Zahid Sanam Jung and affan and it was their career worst drama

Guys, in Islam, is there religious significance to the engagement? Is it the same as mangni or different? Or is the engagement more of a western thing that has been adopted in various cultures. Just trying to understand all the significance of Murtasim getting engaged to the snake. Is it common for engagements to be broken? Etc. like how final is it, in cultural and or religious view?
