Agreed. He enjoyed riling her up. Also, when Maa Begum asks him the reason for his refusal, he says bcz Meerab doesn't want it. He could have said mujhe bilkul zeher lagti💁

Then I loved that dialogue where Maa Behum gives this strange expression and says 'Kuch toh khaas baat hogi usme ke tum usko leke gaye bina kisi ko bataaye' Then, he couldn't answer and goes to ask Meerab and as soon as she says I want to. He agrees. Bhai sirf pity hoti toh aise hi bhi ghar me rakh sakta tha
