During promotions of Dum Maro Dum he ranted about how he felt like a orphan and how his father never was there for him and for the first time ever he felt like he has a brother and a father about Amitabh and Abhishek. Turns out his father and his first family was involved in his childhood. Arya Babbar was aghast and lashed out at Prateik and showed with proofs that they were not absent from Prateik's life. Ofcourse they were living on different continents so theirs was not a perfect family situation but it was never like the orphan thingy Prateik was projecting it to be. They all later reconciled after the entire fiasco. Nadira Babbar never alienated Prateik and he did have a bond with his father, half siblings and step mother as he visited them in vacations.

He grew up with his grandparents. But you are right the family were good to him.

Raj Babbar is a terrible person and had an obligation towards his child. Nadira and her children owe nothing to Prateik yet they were good to him and took him in as one of their own after all that imagine that person turning on you and claiming to be an orphan and embracing some random co worker and his family as brother and father in front of the whole world? If that is not gimmick and emotional manipulation then what is?
