He did not advocate for a separate Sikh country..he said that Muslims would see Punjab turn into Sikhistan, if they dont get up from their dream of it becoming Pakistan. Ofcourse we all know what happened eventually and Pakistan did get formed. The idea of a separate State emerged from communist parties in 1940s if I am not wrong.

His dislike for Muslims stems from what he saw from his time in the cellular jails:

He didn't care much, if you care, you wouldn't say such irresponsible, careless, and crazy things. Ambedkar criticised him for not holding the Muslims and the Muslim leaders accountable for the Moplah massacre. Ambedkar was very critical of Gandhi, and refused to call him a "mahatma".

I'm surprised that his so-called "experiments" don't elicit revulsion amongst his fans, now imagine if Modi was doing these "experiments", what would your reaction be, hold on to that reaction and apply it to Gandhi.

I understand what you are saying about this quote but we are only focusing on the religion part here which Gandhiji was immune to .. Even I wont like anyone asking my family to get killed ..but here we are talking about a leader who has always approached every conflict with self sacrifice and non violent resistance... he has always advocated the same to everyone ..we are projecting our feelings to a leader who had a totally different thought process than ours and lived in a different era....he is a person who believed in love your enemy too..how many of us can love our enemy???..definitely not me lol... am not such a Mahatma ...so for us it looks irresponsible but then we also know its his way of calling for non violence & passive way of dealing with it.. I just try to see why so n so leader talked in a way..I take what I believe in and criticize the rest...we should remember the people who were fighting were not just only listening to Gandhi but they were also heavily influenced by their own communal leaders...non violence way was new to so many of the leaders in that era. it will only work when everyone follows it...

Well about ur last comparison..how can we just cut , copy paste one last page of a book to another book and invoke similar reaction when both books are entirely different genre ? doesnt make sense to me...these two leaders have lived their life on such different ideologies.. how can they generate similar reaction from Janta? its not possible be it any leader..just that gandhi's followers knew he had dedicated his entire life preaching self discipline and and were aware of his unwavering attempts for spiritual transformation... may be thats why they dont feel revulsed. not sure.
