Maybe Junaid didn't want his father's support but get work in movies on his own merit?

Maybe this movie is not something, YRF makes confident of a good box office outcome (which could be embarassing for Junaid).

Audience really is totally unpredictable...

Aamir has never been with his kids. Reena got their custody and took their responsibility. Aamir just took them for vacation once a year or when he took breaks after films.

Aamir has never helped his family or friends in industry for sure. Except maybe launching Imran in Jaane tu or casting him in Delhi Belly or producing Kiran's debut as director- Dhobighat or doing Mela with Faisal or at times involving Nuzhat and Mansoor in script writing or production.

The only time he seriously collaborated with a family member was in 90s when Mansoor made QSQT, JJWS, Akele hum akele tum with him.

Otherwise he has never teamed with family or done favours for friends.

He never works on basis of regard or goodwill or relations.

I read a blind item which claimed Aamir shouted at Junaid during a shooting is harsh on him. I guess he probably knows Junaid is not star material or cut out for commercial cinema. Perhaps this is why he did not support his career in films.

I have no idea why Junaid wants to do films when he has been a top student and studied at good institutions and has brains. I had read he wanted to be a lawyer. So why he dropped law and went for theatre or acting?

Poor guy's youth years are getting wasted.

Aamir is a pucca business minded, money minded guy and non emotional in matters of business of films. If he knows audience will not like it or it will not work, he does not lend his name or support to it nor puts his money on it. Even if it means it is his own family members.

I sort of like his honesty in not pushing Imran further after his flops. He is not a hardcore nepo promoter, family promoter.

Even if he does help launch Junaid, he will pull away once he sees audience reject Junaid as an actor or even a model.

I guess Aamir is reeling under own flops and too worried about his own mangled personal and professional life to focus on his kids.

By all means he has been a self absorbed guy and never known to be much of a family man though he pretends he takes breaks to be with mom or sister or ex wife. I think he is at the most close to his mom and sisters who pamper and molly cuddle him. He is not that close to anyone else it seems.

He knew his kids were no star material. I doubt he ever took responsibility of his kids. Reena had their custody and raised them, devoted her time to them and kept them away from showbiz and media.

Why will he launch kids after disastrous experience with launching Imran or Kiran's flop debut Dhobighat as director? He does not like to lose money or goodwill of his name.

He can give roles to Fatima. But not his son. Son brings more expectations and attention compared to Fatima.

From what I've heard the reason Maharaja is shelved is that it is extremely political and Aamir will set his entire career on fire if it actually shows up in theatres. From his resume he's a theatre actor, so he's 100% going to be doing roles like Ayushmann and Rajkumar after a while, but there's no harm to debuting as a lead actor. And Junaid has been doing theatre for a while - at least like 10 years. I don't think he was ever going to be a lawyer, and it was probably Aamir PR saying he was a lawyer.

He is doing the Love Today remake (which is actually going to be rewritten as the Tamil version had a terrible ending) with Khushi and I'd say they visually could fit the part. I have seen both of them in real life and while Khushi is gorgeous, Junaid looking visibly older will make sense in the context of the story [where the girl is uncomfortably younger]. I doubt Junaid will go for a top hero role after a while, he's not that stupid to follow Sanjay Kapoor's path.
